Q:

Baby Cricket and Sparrows

It is cold and sunny here and I have been blasting sparrows all morning. For some reason the mirage is worse than normal with the sun beating down but I am managing. :5:

The Compact .177 is hard to beat for birdee fun but the Stubby is so fast to load – I actually don’t even notice the difference much and I don’t have to mess with loading the magazines. I tend to shoot off of a solid rest 98% of the time so I might feel differently carrying it around.

THe Maddog stock and Supersear trigger made Stubby into a tach driver with a ton on power. I have the .177 and .25 barrels. Both barrels are as accurate as my Crickets. No flex or temperature issues with the Maddog. The trigger is set at 8 oz. The extra high rings make the cheek weld much more comfortable. The .177 barrel gets over 80 shots at 900 fps with the 10.34 JSB and is very quiet as moderated. I upgraded the trigger shoe, end cap, and breech knob. The gun is really turned way down to get to 900 fps with the .177s even with 12″ barrels. It is deadly accurate.

You don’t happen to like Mamba scopes do you? Lol
I have a Viper and love the SCB reticle.

LOL , the 177 Compact is right now my favorite BP. I’m planning to take her out to the farm tomorrow.

The Talon is a bit long with it’s home made LDC I made, with it on it’s OAL is 38.5″ but when ratting we’re not moving from our shooting position just waiting.

quote GKU:

I have a Talon SS in 22 cal pretty much stock just did a trigger lightening on it. I used G-2 pen springs on the shear spring and first stage only. Tuned to only 17.3 FPE for use for mainly ratting.

Do I see a 177 cricket in there with my name on it?
Btw talon looks stretched out quite a bit

Coda I was once thinking of getting one in 177 but can’t see myself doing manual loading

I’ll try a tin of those in my Stubby Talon with the .177 barrel where I have near 500 cc air and tons of power to spare. It is extremely accurate with the Mad-dog stock.

I have been shooting my 22 standard and haven’t shot my Baby in 2 weeks or so.

The last outing it took out a sparrow @ 70 yards in a 5 mph wind !

Also anyone tried the JSB Exact Beast .177 16.2 gr in their Baby Cricket ?
If so what is the BC ?

Got about 15 today. Mostly starlings at 45 yards. Wish I had a wind meter at each location which I could read from truck

I just left the grain elevator hundreds of birds there, life is good! I’ll be there tomorrow.

Just picked some off before dark. It was nice now until the light faded.

At least your warm. Send some birds to me.

It’s a problem with me too shooting from truck in the cold. Heatwave from truck makes scope look like junk
