Edgun Scope Rings???
Greetings and salutations. Got my first Edgun, on it’s way, along with a Hawke Sidewinder. Being a “gun ho Eddie” (pardon the pun) I’m anxious to procure scope rings, so I can be set up & shooting within 5 minutes of lightening UPS’s load. My query is this: as the ocular portion of the scope will be positioned over the rail, do you guys, with the same setup, know if low profile rings will provide adequate clearance?
New to the forum and have found a wealth of information, within it’s pages…lot’s of knowledge, experience and humor here, though some of the member’s kinda scare me. 😉 :hoot: 😉 I also have to mention what a pleasure it is dealing with Tony R., in Florida, and appreciate the personal touch. He left me confident in my selection of the .25 Long, provided all the service/maintenance components as requested, put me on “the list” for mags and gave me a hell of a deal. How did I find him…through this Forum. :8:

Well shit, HOOT…I knew there was a reason I had concerns about you…I tested out your second hand information and now I’ve thrown my back out! (The upside is, I still have one good eye left). I like Burris, but to clarify, what’s the lowest profile that will work? Low, Medium, High, Extra HIgh???

How long is your neck???
Do you even have a neck? (Don’t laugh…some forum member’s heads rest directly on their shoulders! One guy in Sweden has his head clear up his ass!)
Do you have an oval, round, or long shaped face??? This determines where your eye sockets are in relation to your chin/cheek.
If you are a “Turkey-Neck” you may even need to go with X-tra High mounts.
Everyone can give you an opinion, some may even be partially correct.
My suggestion is to line the gun up to your cheek, and measure the actual vertical distance from the rail top to your pupil. That will at least get you in the ballpark when it comes to determining whether low, med, high, X-high, is best for you. (Just to be clear…if you have children in school, the “pupil” in mention here is located at the center of the whites of your eyebulb.)
Given the fact that you may not be overly bright, I suggest you obtain the assistance of someone to help you with this. I don’t want to get blamed if you poke your damned eye out!!!

PS: As a rule of thumb, indicated in the Arkansas Rifle Association suggestions for mounting scopes,…the average shooters neck is roughly the same length as his dick. Not that this helps, as there is a range from four to twelve inches here…depending on who is full of shit, and who is telling the truth. This info might help you. Personally, I didn’t think it was helpful at all…still an interesting factoid to know, and to toss into casual conversations with people you want to impress!

Thanks guys. I happen to have a new set of medium height rings, on hand. I’ll throw them on and then go from there. I have a scope cam setup, I will need to transfer to this gun anyway, so I’ll need the gun and scope to put the best system together.

It really depends on your head…………..
If your head looks like this, then high or low will work depending on eye dominance.
If your head looks like this then you should get extra high rings, remove the stock, and replace the stock with para cord for eighty yard headshots on insects 🙂

I would recommend to get the gun, and then have someone hold the scope to see what height matches up with your eye the best. I went with Seekins Precision 1.26″ high rings on my setup.
Profile depends on the scope size and your preferences medium and high would work in most cases. Any brand like B-square or Leapers would work.

I believe the Burris z rings are the way to go.
