Man what a mess. I was in the gun business for a while. I sold fine double guns. I can honestly tell you this kind of thing is very common between retailers. Some retail company is always trying to control the market. The firearms retail business is really a ” Game of Thrones”. Now that airguns are gaining popularity it seems that this hobby business is becoming very cut throat. Big arms manufactures like Beretta, Perazzi and Browning do not usually get involved like this between arguing retailers. They will keep it fair, stay neutral , listen to gripes then get back to making guns. It does not benefit the manufacturer to get involved with infighting at the retail level. FX should have stayed out of this. That was a huge mistake that will cost them customers. In a small market place like PCP airguns every potential buyer is uber important.

I think it’ll be interesting to watch AoA and FX’s business relationship over the next few years.

My deal with them was early on, I was in the market for a regulated Bobcat in .25, and there were all sorts of issues with the FX guns with regulators mainly because AoA was adding the regulators to the non-regulated stock they had and not doing it properly… It gave FX a bad name, and they did not respond well to the problem either. Fortunately for me, I got cold feet about the Bobcat and then along came the .25 Crickets with an Earnest tune… No need for a Bobcat right now… I don’t mind paying for good service but I also won’t buy cheap either just to save a few bucks then not be able to get service… AoA just doesn’t sound like the kind of company I’d want to do business with.

Don’t get me started on AoA, it’ll ruin my week!!

i have never done business with them and i never will, period!

I got a bad taste in my mouth dealing with AOA Trying to buy my first Cricket, Wild West stepped in and saved the day after three months of waiting,
That’s the main reason I am holding off on there cheap compressors and waiting to buy one from Jim Sheldon, I mean man what makes me think AOA is going to treat me any better now…
Not trying to bash them but I was just treated very bad buy the sales men at AOA, Making all kings of promises that they could not keep.
1295 and 1500 + shipping 100 bucks I am sure is just not that much difference when you need help after the sale…
OK now is the time for everyone to step in and tell me how good Jim Sheldon compressors are over the china stuff.

+1 on that post…

Don’t buy a Chinese compressor, I have a lot of experience with filling high pressure air tanks, if it ain’t German or American I’m not owning it.

I was away from the AG scene for a few months during deer season and did not catch what was going on, but it appears that Steve went from threatening anyone that criticized AoA or FX to joining in.

That applied to all advertisers there not just AOA and FX.

People wanted something done with AOA death hold on FX and SteveCT tried to make it happen and the shit hit the fan.

I don’t know if it is just a coincidence that Precision is no longer advertising. I think Jim is probably the next largest seller of FX, which he has to buy from AoA to begin with.

Joe Brancato has a comparison of the Cricket and Bobcat on his Yellow classified ad that would not have been allowed not too long ago. It is somewhat interesting and, although very thorough, fails to mention just how fucking ugly the Bobcat is and how many quality issues there have been.

Jim Chapman still posts occasionally. He travels often with work and hunts even more. Jim is a class act and I can’t see him being influenced by someone else’s spat.

As for AoA, fuck them! I bought two guns from there before they got too big for their own good. I dealt with Kip and Shane and could not have been happier. They texted me photos and even shot one of the guns several time to illustrate some groups. Those days are long gone. About a year ago I was inquiring about a used Air Wolf that they were advertising. I requested some photos and was told that they did not have time and I should just trust their description. The same thing happened again with another $1500+ gun. I am not paying that kind of cash for a used gun without some pictures.

Steve Smith and Wild West got drug into the mess. Although I don’t read every post every day, I cannot remember one single negative comment about Steve or his business. AoA started selling Crickets at a discount just to fuck Steve. Enough said!

things have changed a bit.

Yeah i read that, pretty interesting stuff!, i haven’t seen Jchapman posting there either, he posted his last hunting trip to Africa on the GTA forum, he always post stuff on the yellow, but after what happened there, things have changed a bit.

The AOA banner is not the only one that has been deleted

The only forum that I’ve seen an AoA banner on lately is predator masters. Which is a joke, because of a lack of interest with airguns over there.

Here’s what happened at the yellow ……………

I would but I don’t want to get banned for asking him that , I would prefer get banned for posting pics of my Edgun and advertise Ed’s products!!!! 😀

Why dont you ask him?
