So, is the Gen-2 R3M the real-deal "cure"?
There are R3Ms for sale here in the U.S, but from what I’ve been reading in this forum the gen-1 R3M is not the smooth-cocking Edgun the Gen-2 is. Do I need to specify that I want the Gen-2 if/when I order one? I ask in ignorance because I’m an Edgun noob who’d like to avoid some of the issues of buying a new bull-pup ***cough!-cough!!-Colibri!!!!***

Yes, it does; the gun is very accurate. I’m pretty happy with my purchase. My only regret was paying $2000+shipping for it and then months later seeing it on sale for $1500 shipped.
No issues for me. The bolt has become pretty smooth and easy to work.
Anyone having issues indexing the mag? Every time I have to yank on the handle it skips a pellet.

My R3M .25 standard was made in January 2014 and has functioned 100% since day 1. It was a little rough to cock at first, but smoothed out after the first 800-1000 shots.
I’m working it! I think the Edgun would be a great bull pup for me. thanks for the input, sloth.

Just bought a .25 standard last week. Out of the box the bolt was quite stiff – not gritty, but sticky. It’s breaking in slowly, and even after less than half a tin of Kings I can already feel the improvement. In the Youtube video where Ed describes how to cock the bolt with a “jerk” he’s right… it definitely needs a swift pull. I also have a Cricket carbine, and the actions are night and day different. R3M requires way more force to cock but feels very robust, where the Cricket lever is light but feels fragile. The ease of loading definitely goes to the Matador. I don’t mind the Cricket mechanism, but being able to slap a mag in and have it hit home is really nice, rather than having to fumble with that tiny knob (that’s what she said).
I gotta try to get me one of those!

Yes, it’s been flawless so far. MUCH easier than my Cricket to change too.

I bought one during the Thanksgiving sale and it’s a Gen 2. Was made in January of 2014
