Manuela had surgery last Wednesday with follow up this coming Wed.

Thanks guys,RC has never lost interest in air guns but he is not followed the forum for months. I read the pyramid blog to him although he finds most of that rather commercial when he saw the AF Texan we went directly here.
Tag, yes the cocking handle is a great feature if it works, as are the double set screws shown for the bushings. I cant tell if the breech is still plastic, although the absence of a screw hole for a cocking knob in the breech will strengthen it.
It screams for a drop in barrel for a 257 with perhaps a cone lead to funnel the air to the barrel.
I would love to have one, but since neither Melanie or I drive now and we live in a really nice housing development where crows with huge holes in them would cause concern, I will have to live viciously with those of you who buy the Texan and wring it out like I did with the Ranger 45 and the Haley 257.

All that from a standard AF bottle is a mystery indeed. In addition to the innovative side lever the valve and breech seal are also very impressive.

It is just under 500 fpe.I used to have to get 800 fps with a 408 grain bullet to get 500 fpe with my ranger 45.But airgun companies round things to the higher number .I used handloder.com for my figures.
Still it is a innovative piece of hardware for a change. I have always felt after owning the Haley 257 and the Ranger 45 with their small diameter hammer sprigs that the only way to increase power was with a large diameter spring like the AF rifles use. But if it truly makes the power with a 3000psi fill is a mystery for both the Haley and the Ranger had to fill to 4500 or be tethered to 3500PSI to make such power

405 grain moving at 750 FPS is over 500 FPE.
Everything you read says 500 fpe. BUT—–When you listen to the vid, and do the math, it is between 290 adn 350. So where is the extra 150 fpe?

I think it has a special tank valve. A balanced valve whatever that means. I think that is helping Airforce get the high foot pounds, as well as the monster calibre and barrel length of course. I wonder if we will see side cocking in other Airforce guns. I love the side cocking feature.
