Q:

Colibri Hummingbird

After reading all of the forums for the last few months, I was almost talked out of buying this Hummingbird. But from the first time I saw one I wanted one. So to contrary advice I bought one.

I got it last night and it was dark and cold, so I filled it up to 3500 psi and loaded some Beeman copper coated pellets in it. Without scope, just shooting outside to see how it would function. It indexed perfectly. The only thing I noticed was an occasional puff of air near my cheek. I ran 3 mags through it. 42 shots. So this morning I ran a mag full of 15 grain JSB through it. Functioned perfectly, but got a tiny puff of air ( less than with the Beemans), seemed to come from the bolt, so light hardly noticeable. The gun is quiet. I decide to take the baffles out just to see how loud it was without them, leaving just the screw cap on the muzzle. I shot two full mags of JSBs , the report was a lil louder but low enough for me. Also there is no puff of air anywhere now. So I am leaving the baffles out.
So I decided to put the scope on and see if I could get it sighted in. Not the best day for that with freezing rain, but WTH. So I put this 3-9 Bushnell on it, not the best scope but good enough. I shot one full mag while sighting in. Then shot some birds at 40 yard just to se how live target would do, a full mag there, several dead birds. Here is a pic of the last mag I shot( actually the last 11 shots) at paper . This was only the third mag I had shot since mounting the scope. I am sure it will do much better , but that is good enough for tree squirrel hunting and that is what I bought it for.

After this I shoot 3 more mags, and it functions perfectly. So far I like it. I do have the scope a lil to high, probably could use the next lower mounts. The gun feels so natural, I am surprised. I never handled a BP before and thought it may not fit well. The mags are wonderful they load easier than anything I have encounterd. I watched some video where Ernest would lay the mag in his hand and pour pellets in, sorta a poor mans speed loader. It works well, that’s how I done it , probably have the mag loaded and in the gun in a minute or less. I bought it from Topgun Airguns, had them paint for me.

That is kind of my thought. I will tell you one thing I cannot believe how well the thing seems to handle for me, it seems like it was built for me. I always have trouble getting a pellet rifle to feel real good in my hand and on my shoulder. Not the case with this one. I have shot 11 mags so far. No malfunctions. Warm weather please!

Love the camo…looks good.

I’m still waiting FedX deliver on on my bird.

Thanks, let us know when you get yours. I hope it warms up some, I am itching to shoot it. Did manage to shoot one mag today, in spite of 20 degree temp and hurricane force winds.. The 14 shot mag is awesome. I mean you shoot and shoot , thinking your are surely empty and they are more. I will say that they are several less birds that will be worrying about staying warm tonight.

Old Kid new toy! Nice looking paint job! I really think this gun once the bugs are worked out of it ill be a big hit. Time will tell though. Not to bad of groups considering the scope you used. I’m sure with the right pellet and right scope you’ll have a one hole shooting gun!

Yeah, I think so. If mine continues to function as well it is now I will be happy. I am sure the groups will be much better. As I said that is just the 3rd mag after sighting it in @ 40 yards. I got the scope to high & a better scope would help. I am not a target shooter. I usually sight my guns in and don’t shoot a lot until hunting season. I never painted the gun, when I place the order with Peter from Top Gun Airguns , I mentioned I would camo it some time. He volunteered to do it.
