.25 long transfer port ???

Whew! Barely have enough brain cells left to post this thread…just read/digested the monster thread on “Edgun R3 .22: shot string, air efficiency, trigger”, while seeking info on tuning HST/regulator. I considered myself somewhat cerebral, with a smattering of OCD, until I reviewed the degree some of our members will go to, in seeking perfection. This is a must read for anyone who utilizes their Edgun for more than recreational plinking. Thank you all, for this wealth of info, with special mention to Endo.

Anyway, while playing with barrel tension vs accuracy, I made note of a “curiosity” I’d like to put on the table. After removing the forward breech/barrel assembly, I noticed something that seemed strange to me, with reference to the treatment of the transfer port seats, at the valve housing and the associated breech area. The valve block has a finely machined seating recess, to accept the copper?/brass? bushing (don’t know what material), as would be expected for a high pressure seal. Conversely, the recessed seat in the breech block is coated with the same matte finish treatment, typical of the exterior of the gun. I ran this by Tony and he indicated that, “I guess this is OK”. There are no adverse symptoms, so I use the term “curiosity” rather than problem. Perhaps it actually enhances the seal. (see the attached below)

Has anyone noticed this on their guns? Is this “curiosity” specific to this gun? Maybe you can jump in here, Ed, if you catch this thread. If anyone had a concern, for this condition, it might put minds at ease, to hear from “The Man” himself. Thanks in advance.
