They did make it lighter by changing out the legs. Though, the Magnum can be set up low enough that you would not need a chair. So unless you are going to stand and or kneel you will need to carry a chair which then you loose the weight advantage.
Battenfeld introduced three new Caldwell pods.

Ain’t that tha dang truff! I just ordered one of the magnum field pods… … to go with my new Cricket .22 that is in transit… It never ends, well that’s what my bride says anyway. I tell her I’m about done, but then somebody comes up with a new this or an improved that… Got my eye on the Vulcan now. Just waiting on reviews of how they perform…
Caldwell just introduced another model of the Field Pod. You can use it standing up also, but the legs look like they are lighter than the Magnum rest. Everything else looks the same and the price is cheaper than the Magnum. Maybe Caldwell is listening to the feedback and reviews of the Magnum and made it lighter by changing the legs.
Those are some nice rests.. It seems like there’s no end to the amount of cash you can spend on nice stuff in this hobby.
I’m looking for a rest also and I’m thinking on getting a Caldwell Deadshot Fieldpod to take to the farm.
How dose the Bald Eagle Rest with windage adjust free recoil system compare to the ctk precision p3 ultimate shooting rest ?

Take a look at the Magnum Field Pod. I have one and it’s rock solid and you can use it to shoot standing up too. Plenty of adjustment and the pan/swivel is nice and smooth. It weighs about 13 pounds and comes with a carry strap. It has spikes on the feet to make it steady on almost all terrain. You might have a problem with slipping on a hard, smooth surface but a small piece of carpet will take care of the problem
Thanks Calbarry !
I had no idea Caldwell had a new one out, a little bigger then the regular Field Pod. It seems to be have good reviews also.

eelect those are really nice groups. How many shots did you got with 905fps (275mps) ? And what about POI shifting? I think indoor shooting is the best way how to investigate if cricket suffer for POI shift…
The gun right now is shooting them at 905. The edgun pellets group a bit tighter and no flyers. When I shoot indoors it’s very taxing on me as the light is ok but not great. Plus I have to get a better portable bench to shoot off of. As I see it gun could duplicate it but I could not hold it together doing 10 ten shot groups like this. When you have a great tin of pellets like this you want to knock down a bunch of starlings at 70 plus yards.

Yup to my very self

The groups look really nice – world class. What is the energy? Could you post a couple of the groups? Are you able to obtain, let’s say, 10 of them of such tightness in a row?
To yourself I presume….Looks like a nice one.
Was my Christmas present

Although I haven’t tried, the legs on the Magnum are supposed to spread far enough so you can use it to shoot prone. This rest is sturdier than lots of benches I’ve shot off of
