Q:

Cricket bleed hole.. Always has grease around it..

I’m assuming it’s grease as it doesn’t dry. I wipe it off and it’s back the next day or later. I was wondering for the longest time what it was, then I realized that I keep a thin coat of silicone grease on my fill probe and that grease must be forced into the fill assembly, then forced out again over time through the bleed hole..
If that’s what’s going on here, how come I can leave my rifle sit for weeks and not lose any pressure? Obviously some air is flowing out of the bleed hole and carrying the grease out.

Good to know Ville!

quote Haggard616:

Oh Yeah!!, Donnys comment reminded me.. I installed a depinger last fall and used a bunch of grease to get that down the air tube. No wonder I have a steady flow of it coming out of that particular bleed hole.. Its grease-town in my tube. And no, its not hurting anything, Chronied gun the other day and its real healthy.

It may not hurt anything but it sure doesn´t help your reg to work at its best. You shouldn´t have excessive grease in there. It gets between the reg´s shims etc. When i get a new gun i always take it apart for inspection and to remove/replace the excessive factory grese before it´s all over the internals.

Good to know I will double check my guns, But they never leak so far,,,,,

On the Crickets there are 3 leak indicator holes the one in the front and two on the back near the cocking lever.

On both of my Crickets the only one that bleeds out lube so far is the middle one.
This one leads to the bevel washers on the inside of the regulator and said to be normal to see it ooze out lube.

The grease isn’t any worry but put a tiny bit of spit over that hole and see if you get an air bubble, if there is any bubble at all then change your front plug O ring.

Heck, I didn’t even know there was a hole there!! I don’t know if mine does it or not. Next time I open my vault, I’ll check mine. I know plugging and unplugging the fill probe, if I don’t lube it up with silicone oil/grease, it will leak every time, so I bet mine probably has a “greasy spot” on it too.

I think it’s basically just a lot of grease that was applied to the o-rings. Whenever I take my air tube apart, i grease it up a lot and it does the same. It’ll slow down eventually. As long as you’re not losing noticeable amount of air, you should be fine.

mine does it too, ever since i’ve had it. I even got Ernest to tune it and it still does it. Shoots great so I don’t worry about it, and like you said holds a charge.
But if you find out i would be interested.

Is that the factory O-ring inside or did you change it out already ?

I wouldn’t worry about it unless you’re worried it will fail on you on a hunt, then I would go in and change all 3 O-rings.

I make a lot of posts asking questions. I Haven’t been in this hobby too long and still don’t completely know the mechanics in PCPs. I’ve done a couple simple mods but I’ve never completely went in to a gun. I just don’t mean to irritate anyone with my posts.
