Q:

Freedom8 issues

Im not sure if this would be the right place to ask but I couldn’t find anywhere else that looked right.

My freedom 8 compressor reaches 3500psi and then shuts off as if the pressure switch has tripped. If I take the wire off of one of the posts on the switch and bypass the switch it will run to higher pressure.

Does anyone think this is more than just a defective switch problem? I would like to run it (probably sitting right there watching with a beer for a couple hours), just so I can keep going until I can get ahold of shoebox to order a new switch. I do NOT want to run it though if it could be some other issue.

Tom responded to my email. I guess there is a setscrew on my pressure switch that works itself loose. Turned it up and it went up to pressure.

It used to pump to 4550 or so. I never changed it.

If it was an o-ring then I doubt it would go ahead and run up to full pressure right?

Yup that sounds like its just set low…

adjust it as recommended.

Hello did you adjust the pressure switch yet. You may have to adjust the pressure switch so it will cut out at 4500 or what ever you set it at. You have to unplug it and slide the sleeve on the switch to the right and you will see a brass piece that has slots in it and with a screw driver you pull down I believe to increase the shutoff pressure than slide the sleeve back on. Just keep checking it as you move it to to he right pressure. Connect you tank hose and do not open the tank just pressure the hose for checking pressure. Hope this helps.
