Q:

Trigger pull

I am not a fan of the stock trigger on my Talon SS. I have the new style trigger. I have taken the trigger group apart, clipped a coil off the trigger spring and polished some of the trigger parts. Notably the faces of the trigger and safety where they rub together. I’ve also very lightly polished the trigger/sear interfaces. I’ve tried different lubes on the trigger group and found that a very, very light coat of moly seems to work best.

After all of this, I’ve gotten the trigger pull down to 1-11/4 pounds. Has anyone gotten better than that? One of the by-products of clipping the trigger spring I’m getting more first stage travel. Has anyone tried the set screw mod for limiting travel on the new style trigger?

Also, has anyone figured out a way reduce the lateral play on the trigger without making it push harder against the safety bar? I have removed the auto safety part, but would rather keep the manual safety.

Hi Dave it’s me again,

I lightened my 22 Talons SS trigger about a mouth ago.

I used Pilots G2 pen springs, it’s a little smaller in diameter but works great !
The pen uses a smaller spring wire then the OEM trigger spring so it has a lighter tension.
Not sure what the pull weight on it is now, but it’s much lighter then before.

I made/cut the shear spring (middle spring) the same length as the OEM one.
The first stage spring (closest to the trigger) shorter then the OEM one, with it being just slightly compressing when reinstalling the trigger cover bar.
I kept the hammer engagement spring (closest to the muzzle) OEM.

On the lateral play, I installed a small but wide nylon washer between the safely bar and trigger it help reduce play by half.

For lateral movement?……Maybe somebody else will chime on that one.

This is the trigger mod I’ve been wanting to do, but I have a knack for destroying my prize possessions. So I’ll probably hold off for now, but worth a look for sure.May not lighten trigger pull, but goes a long way to remove unwanted movement in the trigger. :4: http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=132
