Q:

Does anyone know the stock valve spring setting on a .25?

When I first got my .25 the reg was set at 130 bar and I could easily get over 950 fps with kings, now I recently adjusted my reg up to 135 bar with a valve setting of 1 turn from touchdown. At this setting by tweaking the hs tension I cannot hardly get over 900 fps…. Anyone know what’s up?

Well guys, I figured out what my issue was. As I suspected my fill source gauge was 40 bar off, so when I thought my reg was set to 135 bar it was really set to 95 bar :sadn:. I got a new gauge and reset the reg to 125 and my velocities are spot on, thanks again for the help fellas…

Thanks for the ideas guys, I ordered a new gauge for my pump as I think it may be giving me incorrect readings. It basically went from about a 5 bar discrepancy with the gun’s gauge when the gun was new, to now a 40 bar discrepancy. I know that the gun’s and fill source’s gauges will often not agree exactly but I think that a 40 bar difference deserves to be looked into a bit…

Also I am going to tear down my reg, check seals, clean out any goo that has accumulated, re-lube etc. As far as transfer port alignment I have not messed with the barrel position at all so it should be lined up as well as it was from the factory. I will keep you guys updated..

Added notes:
Remember every gun is a bit different with the use of a different nanometer to measure the bar pressures.
All Crickets (hammer, valve stem and regulator) springs are somewhat different within each one.
Thus what setting that work one gun will not always work exactly the same on another, chrony stats many differ.

But the chrony velocity numbers you get are the best guide lines to follow.
Compare it to your targeted goal velocity with the adjustment of the HST will give at about halfway in.
If the targeted goal velocity is hi at that HST setting, lower the reg pressure a bit and if it’s low, raise it.

If your cup of tea is to push Kings 950+ into the Mark 1 territory you’ll need a different tactic like enlarging the transfer port, etc…..

In addition to the above replies.
Sound like if your getting over 950 fps with Kings, your bar readings are a bit low 130 when actually 135 bar, and 135 bar when actually 140 bar ?

Very close in having the value lock up at that to high of a pressure, not enough HS to do the job.
Good way to break the value stem.

just my :2cents:

Exactly! Between 110-115B. Gave me a very steady 280 mps with JSB Kings. 130 B factory setting was waaayyy too high. I had the AVT set at 3/4 – 1 turn.

Sir Ville´s last cricket .25 he have had set the regulator only for 110bar as my memory serve me…

Have you adjusted the reg with a reg tester so you know it´s at true 135 B ? Is the transferport aligned at all junctions ? Is the barrel o-ring/load pin o-ring leak free ?? One turn on the AV shouldn´t do that.
