Q:

Question on noise from Condor SS

So I have a Condor SS with a 6 inch shroud from Tony, and I’m trying to figure out what I’m hearing.

When I shoulder the rifle and dry fire, I hear a certain level of noise.

But when I fire with a pellet in the breech, the metallic ring seems a LOT louder….what am I hearing??

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that!

I’ve watched all the video’s on how to disassemble the Condor, but I have not done it yet.

Does taking the barrel, hammer, spring, etc …out change the zero on the gun much?

From a factory assemble one, I believe it might change a bit.
It depends on what you find when you do, like a loose barrel screw.
There after, disassembly shouldn’t change to much at all.

p.s. If you’re interested this is what I did for my Condor SS 25 cal http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27882#p274167

It could be the Hammer Spring is twanging.

I installed two more tape silencer on mines.
If you look carful at your spring you can see the small worn-out shiny areas on the out side of the springs surface.
This where it rubs up on the inside of the frame and maybe causing that metallic sound you’re hearing.

I used and placed very small shrink tubing on mines where the worn-out spots where so it made contact to the frame instead of it being metal to metal.
Caution when heating the shrink tubing don’t get the spring hot, it may de-temper it.

o-ring installation it is then !!

Sounds like tank ping ❗
That’s reason #2 for putting an o-ring behind the tophat.
Or blame the shroud for not allowing enough noise to mask the ping.
I believe Tony’s hammer slap mod would definitly fix it.

I have poor hearing but couldn’t stand that ping when I tuned down my condor to make it neighbor friendly. The o-ring was good enough for mine but I already had lightened the hammer to make a .177 x12″ barrel work with the condor valve.
