Vulcan.177 shot string and 50 yds groups
Today I shot the Vulcan despite the windy weather. I cleaned the barrel and filled it to 250 bar and shot down to 100 bar.(which proved to be the Reg set point). A total of 182 regulated shots obtained , that is a total of 14 Magazine.
I used 0.177 JSB Exact Heavy 10.34 grn. In my humble opinion I noticed the following:
1 The regular was not in an optimum condition especially in the first 4 mags. Denoted by the high ES (20fps app.) and poor SD (5-8). I hope it will improve may be after 2K shots.
2 The bolt was hard and stiff with a noisy ping sound when fired.
3 The air consumption is very well optimized. At approx. .82 bar/shot at 16 ft. Lb. energy. Which permits ample space for Reg/HST manipulation.
4 I shot at 50 yard (approx 45 meters) 5 shot groups and one 13 shot group (1 mag. ).images attached.

Anyway – you need to remove the “sharp” edges from that plate surrounding the cocking arm. I used Dremel. Then i used PTFE grese (thinned with PTFE oil) on the mechanics and i now have a very smooth cocking. Very nice indeed. 16 J / 12 fpe isn´t what this Gun was meant to shoot at , obviously , since the groups with my .22 were the size of your groups – at 85 meters or so. Mine is a .22 though and the conditions were perfect with no wind at all.

As advised by SirVille i polished and lubed the bolt parts and the spring and hammer. Tuned the trigger at 14 oz. from 1 lb. 10oz. And filled up to 180 bar only shot it down to 100 bar. A total of 7 mags that is 91 shots at 17FPE 23 joule . . I used JSB Heavies 10.34 grn 5.50 mm instead of earlier 5.52 mm.
I have noticed the following :
the Velocity increased from 840’s to 860’s.
The Reg was working perfectly. The 91 shots ES was 10.8 and the SD was 2.2 fps. Thus, the Accuracy improved remarkably.
Now I don’t know whether it is due to the 5.50 pellets or the lubrication.
Tomorrow I will use the 5.52 mm pellet to find out the answer.

Khamis probably you mean 4.52 pellets no 5.52 with cal.177 ? 😀 😳

Thanks Ville for your advice. I will do that. I wanted to shoot it at out of the box condition. I will try a few more pellet brands and weights to decide on the suitable power level. The power level now is 16 FPE not 12 FPE. Definitely the higher the caliber the more stable flight and accuracy.
The majority of my other PCP guns are in 22 cal that is why I opted for .177 cal.

I took the whole Gun into bits before even firing it. I always do that with all my Guns (and previously Motorcycles, Cars etc) since i don´t trust any factory having MY best interrest in their mind. I´m kinda weird, i know.

I think Khamis result is quite good for brand new gun in outdoor condition of course. I´m sure it will be a lot better that now. We can compare it after 5000 pellets or so 😉 But air consumption is very good for 16fl gun. I get with my HW100 12ft gun 11 mags it means 150shot from 205bar to 80bar.

Did some shooting today. No wind at all. Unfortunately i had a scope with mere 12 x mag on , the MTC Viper Connect. 12 x is too little for me for any serious target work beyond 40 meters.
Anyway – did a 50m grouping with 11 shots ( one mag ) and a five shotter at 70 meters. I messed up två shots on the 50m group due poor vision but that’s not the Vulcans fault.
JSB 18gr heavies at 280 mps.
Damn – Tapatalk is sucking again. I’ll attach them pics later. 🙁
