Q:

Matador’s barrel, bending upward.

Hello, my nick name is Marco from JAPAN. I have waited EDgun Matador for a few years, and have been a big fan of it since last year.
There are little more than 10 Matador owners in Japan now. I appreciate this informative forum and hope we will be able to enjoy it with you all.

Well, one of my friend needs help. His barrel is bending to the upward, and it is to the level that the muzzle hole can not be seen as round from breach side.
I will explain situation.

On Delivery.
Barrel was bending upward.
Accuracy was OK. One hole at 50m.

He tried.
He took off the barrel. The barrel seems to be strait by itself.
He assembled with the shroud tube 45 degrees and torqued up the barrel and see what happens, and the barrel bends up.
He repeated this, but no matter if it is 45 deg or 90 deg…. 360 deg… the barrel always bend upward.

Accuracy before the barrel bending upward: approx 50mm at 50m. This is not Matador’s accuracy.

If more torque, barrel starts bending upward.
Accuracy: Seemed to get better in accordance to the torque he applied.
If torqued up, it shows one hole accuracy.

He prefers to have the barrel strait, not because of the accuracy issue, but because he just prefers it.
So, any help is appreciated.

P.S. It might take some time to respond, because I need to tell him what he should try remotely, and wait his for his trial and result.
If that happens, I appreciate for a little bit of patience. Thank you!

Marco

Thank you for those who gave me advise to help my friend.

This is the result he got so far.

He turned the shroud, every 90deg, but which ever the shroud is the barrel bends to upward.
And we could not change the parts, as he is trying himself and it is far from the gun shop.

He torqued to just before the barrel bends up, and he torqued another 30deg. At this point, degree of the barrel bending upward is still small.

He used lubricant to the pellet, and the lub significantly reduced the CTC at 50m. So far approx 25mm at 50m.
Although it might not be impressive grouping for Matador, it was impressive improvement for his situation.

So, he is happier than before, with all the help and advise from you through me, and he will do some more challenge.

I will update if there is any valuable information to share.

Thank you.

Marco.

Sorry for everyone who gave me response on this.

Currently, my friend seems to be struggling by himself and I do not have contact from him.
In the April or May, him and I might try for exchanging parts of the guns, and try to find out what the issue is.

Thank you.

From the pics it is difficult to tell.
Is it possible to change out parts with an other edgun?

Cosmetic… yeah right.
Even when it does not effect accuranty, you still have to look at it.
Every day.

Hi Marco,

Thanks for the pics.
Could you ask for more resolution or close ups?
Is the barrel problem less or more when you dismount the stock and trigger/hammer?

Regards, Robert.

Hello, Robert.

I hope this will be some help. I have scanned from hard copy of photo, and the photo is originally not really high resolution.
So, this is the best.

Barrel issue is rather cosmetic issue for my friend. He just want the barrel look strait.
It does not cause any issue when dismounting stock or trigger/hammer nor performance.

Hello, Hemn

Thank you for your reply. I realized…that my Matador barrel is bending a little bit upward! I never minded, and my Matador is very accurate, I know.

But there is some people who want the bending barrel fixed, although he knows the gun is accurate by the way it is, and fixing might not make any better…

That is the way he loves the EDgun!

By the way I could not find Mediaway USA in youtube. Could you send me some short cut?

Marco.

Hello, everyone.

I got some pics from my friend. I hope you can see it.

If you got some idea, please help!

Excellent – thanks. One has to polish the LW to come near the smoothness of the CZ with hammer forging.
