Q:

Starting point

I now have about 300 shots thru my condor SS 22 cal with the 18 inch barrel. This thing is uncanny accurat at 25-30 yrds. I have installed the o ring under the top hat. Does any one who is shooting this particular setup have any ideas about power wheel setting and what pressure and weight pellet might extend the accuracy and power of this gun without spending a wad of money. Just trying to get the best out of this setup without doing a bunch of physical up grades. Just power levels, optimum
Air pressure level and type pellet used. Right now my power wheel is set at the factory setting of 5.8 I have installed the o ring
And am shooting oiled jsb 18.1 grain pellets. It is a killer at 25 yrds. But out to 40 or fifty can’t hit the starling. And help would be greatly appreciated.

First off I would recommend you never, ever, ever oil pellets and shoot them in any pellet gun. Deiseling is very hard on airguns. Second off I would say you need to lower the power setting, or grab some of the heaviest pellets you can find. As for a chrony check eBay.

I’m using an old Chrony that I’ve had for years from when I used to play with powder burners and archery stuff… There are some really nice ones available now. If I were going to buy a new one, I’d get one with the remote read out and data port/printer capabilities.

Thanks for the info salt, I do not own a chronograph and have no idea where this beast is shooting. Guess I will have to get one. I left the power wheel setting where the factory set it. Only thing I have done is add the oring to quite it down and up the shot number. At 25 yrds I can shoot a 1/2 group easily and kill the crap out of starlings but can’t hit them at 50 yrds. I will give your settings a try with some jsb 25.3 and see if that helps. In the meantime guess I’ll order a chrono. Have any suggestions as to what model?

You are probably losing accuracy for this combo because it’s shooting too fast for the 18.1’s to be stable at distance. When I had my 22 barrel on my Condor SS, I had the power wheel set at almost 0.0… 0.6 max and it was shooting between 880 and 920 with a 2800 fill shooting down to about 2100. It was very accurate out to fifty yards with the same set up. These condors are powerful and these pellets will not fly stable at the higher power settings. I switched to a .25 cal. barrel and still only put the power wheel at about 4-0 and get 920 fps. It’s real accurate and stable. At your power setting, it’s probably loud and it’s probably shooting well over 1000 fps and that’s way too hot for those pellets.
