Q:

Bolt o rings

How much resistance should you feel on the bolt when closing the bolt after cocking? I understand there are o rings around the bolt to seal it. My condor SS is brand new (about 200 rounds thru it) after pushing the bolt forward to cock the gun, if I am pointing the gun up ( muzzel up) the bolt will fall almost all the way closed. My friend has an older talon that requires some pull to close the bolt. I assume it’s from the rubbing of the o rings on the bolt. Anyone know how it’s supposed to feel?

Got a jar of divers silicon today from the dive shop where I got my tank. They fill tanks for a lot of air gunners . The owner said the o rings in my gun are what is called static o rings. They expand out when the air pressure comes up behind them then shrink back when in disapates. This is about the only time they really touch anything. But the silicon does help to preserve and lube them.

Yeah! That little jar will last you a lifetime.

If you have a tank, ask the dive shop/where you get your tank filled if they have any. They should have some. If you don’t have a tank, call your local dive shop, or HPA or gas supplier, or paintball shops will occasionally have some. If they don’t have any you can find it online.

Thanks for the replys gentlemen. That is a relief to know mine is normal. I didn’t feel any air escaping around the breach when fired so I was hoping it was normal. As for my friends talon, I did shoot it with a little rem oil around the breach which made it a little slicker but is still a little tight. I have watched airforce’s video and they recommend using divers silicon for o ring lube. Is this the actual brand name? Where can you buy it?

On my condor the bolt will just fall back into place with a very light tap of a finger. Yours sounds normal to me. I would suggest your buddy out some oil on the o rings and see if it becomes looser.

There should be a very slight resistance .
The o rings expand when the rifle is fired to create a seal.
