Q:

Taipan Mutant Shot string , At what i call optimal velocity

Ok… so haven’t been able to do a lot with this lately cause well, I shot all my lead. FedEx dropped me off a nice package so i decided to give this a full run on the crony.

I had been playing with the Hammer and Regulator settings to try and find a well balanced setting. I haven’t done anything other than tweak them 2 settings. The guns all came in shooting hot.

945 – 950’s with jsb 18.1’s…… Too hot for my liking and probably most others. but they seemed optimaly tuned at that speed. so with that said i think i found a good balance of speed and shot count.

now mind you the airtube on these things are smaller than any other bullpups of its size. its somewhere around 200cc. I did a rough estimate and it seems close. when i get time ill do a better calculation.

here are my results

61 shots 881-890 Jsb 18.1 grain. with a 220 bar fill. Manufacture calls for a 250 bar fill but my tank was running low

Man DMAN must of heavily modified that one.

With all the debbie downers I figured I’d drag some good threads back up

Let them feast and eat :2:

I certainly became sold on getting one. Waiting for it now. Ought to be here in a few weeks.my thanks to all who looked into the gun and found it’s secrets. I expect my sample to be a real joy to shoot.

Thought I would drag this thread back….

The mutant sure is one efficient airgun…..

This one is endos…..

Wow! a bull pup that might displace the Edgun? Jamie, you have to tell us more about availability. Get the latest word out, and more pictures too, please. Are you able to post the true CTC of that shot group? Can the Taipan perform sub-MOA groups at 40 yards (sun-MOA @ 50 yards would be stellar). The trigger layout looks very well thought out. It is a pull-type versus the typical push type bull pup trigger? Any data on the .177? What about standard features? How much is involved in adjusting the HST or the regulator?

A Google search led to a few hits for the Taipan Mutant. Good luck Jamie, on being the importer of a new king. Please don’t let it be rushed to market like the Hummingbird was. Make sure it’s right, and a path will be beaten to your door. Interesting that Ernest has his hands on one. He’s probably eager to spill the beans about this one ( I hope!!)

The accuracy of these is right there with the cricket and edgun, maybe better. I shot some groups with mine mostly at 40 yards. actually i shot groups with all of the ones in the USA at 40 yards. They all looked like this or better

I think the Trigger is very good. probably the best bullpup trigger on the market… here is a video explaining the adjustment and such

Here is a quote from another thread

quote sniperlabyo:

Been turning Edgun, Cricket and FX for awhile now—-that said—-> I love the mutant the best, it’s has the best trigger and mag system. I still need to disassemble the air tube and see the craftsman ship. More later after I see the whole package.

Haven’t seen any issues at all with these since they arrived in the US late FEB. Everyone seems to be very impressed with the quality and performance. There is another order in the works just waiting for confirmation when they will be shipped to give an update. Got shorts and standards coming.

Also….. I’m in the process of working out a distribution plan….. Sales and Service/warranty and parts. I wanna see these mutants succeed in the US market . I will post more on this subject at a later time.

More info please.Accuracy? Issues? Trigger? Maybe I missed all that?

Wow, that is one of the most consistent strings I have ever seen.
SD is only 2.1 fps and the average variation between shot is 2.3 fps, and max spread is 9 fps.
This is the most air efficient gun I have ever seen: 10.41 cc/fpe, if the air tube volume 200 cc is correct, I believe it is, Dman is no fool in numbers.

Congrats to Dman, this Mutant evolves…

Regards,
Endo
