Degassing Question-.25
Ok, I’ve got 2350 shots through my second Matador .25 and have been into the guts 6 times, in the course of the learning, cleaning and fine tuning process. These guns are fun and simple to play with and I love the tune-ability. Here’s my question. Utilizing Ed’s method of degassing, has anyone come up with a way to keep from blowing out the breech/probe o ring? I bear the gun on the gauge end of the air tube, to keep the muzzle open and clear but blow the o ring out every time. I catch it with a rag but don’t like having to fish it back into the detent every time. Got this down to a 1-2 minute process (magic fingers as Ed says), as I don’t like the idea of removing the bushing every time, given the difficulty in removing it and jeopardizing the small set screw…and yes, I shoot it down to 90-100 bar.
Is the only alternative to buy the degassing tool?

when i received my Edgun almost two years ago. …directly my Edgun brother Tedd (Oldgoat) has shipped a degassing tool with a full life time o-rings for my Edgun….see this post

And i posted fully details in a thread that i posted all related to my Edgun… that tool is handmade by Brother Tedd himself. ..i can do the reg set within less than 15 mnts…very useful tool….
Thanks Hemn…next time, give Gerard’s method a try, if you’re so inclined. I assume you have to remove the stock, trigger guard and bolt assembly to use the mentioned degassing tool then go back and remove the trigger assembly. The side benefit with Gerard’s sequence is, at no time, are you removing screws and the bolt assembly, with a charged gun, exposed trigger and the action set to fire. The pressure is released, with the probe/bolt in the closed position, retaining the o ring and all air is discharged down the barrel. Also, disassembly sequence seems a bit more intuitive, IMHO…start at the bottom and work up. With the correct allen wrench, there is no concern for damage to the valve rod. Wrong allen wrench…you might have a problem.
