Q:

Homebrew night vision – so close…

Last night I thought I had finally wrapped up my homemade NV setup, complete with camera, screen, and IR lamp. I bought a backup camera for this iteration, because it came with night vision already, and I had trashed my last camera trying to get the IR filter off. I shopped around a bit and found a decent camera, and with one small exception, it works wonderfully. That small exception? The image is backwards. Apparently, this is pretty standard with backup cameras, as it makes backing out easier. Some monitors have an option to flip the image, but mine does not. So, I did some reading, and I came across one post that said I could open up the cable and cut the green wire, which should return the image to normal. However, I am a little chicken to give this a shot, as I don’t want to ruin the camera. I suppose I could always splice the wire back together, but I still would rather not cut it if it’s not necessary. So, what do you think – should I cut it and risk messing up the camera, or drop $30 more on a monitor with more bells and whistles?
Thanks,
Chris

Sorry I cant find it now but one of the backup or other cameras I’ve bought had an instruction of what to do if the image came on without the mirror effect. Is there a phone number in your instructions ❓

It could have been as simple as disconnect and reconnect the power a couple times
My filing system is simple too. “Whatever….. it’s gotta be here somewhere :butkick:

Maybe you should just get the new monitor safe option and at $30 it’s not that bad

Flip a coin! My :2cents:
