Q:

Optimum velocity for JSB Kings 25.4grn pellets

Since getting the Edgun Matador r3m standard 25cal I’ve been wanting to know at fps does it shoot best. Tell me what has been your experience.

In my 25 long version I’m set at 940fps. MOA at 150 yds with great regularity if I’m up to task on trigger, which I usually am. :biggrinn:

To be a little bit more definitive, with the answer you are seeking, my gun’s best precision begins @ 880 fps and maintains it to 910 fps. (this seems typical) Increasing velocity beyond this, shows a definite but small loss of accuracy. (increasingly growing 5 shot groups up to .25″ larger, at 50 yards, when I approach 980 fps) This is more than acceptable if you’re looking to put the smack down on your target, at this range, but at 80 to 120 yard distance, this will result in some misses or poor hits on small and medium size game. For shits and giggles, I tuned/balanced the regulator and HST for 820 and again for 850 fps and got excellent results with the JSBs. 910 fps is the best of both worlds for me.

See your post “First day…”

Accuracy in the velocity range Tony mentioned is excellent. Power is increased with speed. I personally enjoy hearing the sickening “WHAP!” of a 31gr Barracuda slamming into the unsuspecting sweet-meats of a possum or raccoon, as they destroy my yard and garden. Therefore, I favor the highest fps that works with the pellet I use, but a speed that still provides accuracy.

You’ll need it too 🙂
I think Tony means that every Gun is a bit of an individual so you need to test and find the fps YOUR gun prefers. The span is as per Tony.

850-950 FPS.
Good luck with your EG.
