Take A Look: Condor Devastation @ Only 400 PSI!!!
As some of you may recall, I recently posted a thread on my disgust with my Condor and the lack of accuracy @50 yards.
I followed some advice and discovered that the Crossman Premier 14.3 grain pellets were going way too hot from 3K down to 2K PSI. As a result, I found out that the sweet spot for these pellets was 1,000-500ish PSI, giving me a good 1″ group at 50 yards. (Obviously 1″ is less than ideal so I have heavier JSB’s, Polymags etc. on order to find “my” pellet.)
Anyways, a few moments ago a noticed a squirrel scamper up a tree and rest in a branch 40 yards off the porch. I quickly grabbed my Condor, slid open the sliding glass door, and took the shot free standing.
PSI was only at 400. Squirrel was about 40 yards out. Zeroed at 50 yards, I held about 2″ high to account for the lack in pressure. I was 100% confident that I was going to nail the squirrel as I had been plinking all week, even at really low PSI, so I knew right where the pellet would be at 40 yards.
The report of the shot was instantly followed by the THWACK of the pellet laying the hammer down on the tree rat. He fell about 25 yards out of the branch, and was dead before impacting the ground. I was AMAZED at the force the pellet had behind it at such a low PSI! I mean it hit like a hammer, entering and existing the squirrel, killing it instantly.
Hopefully these pictures come through correctly so everyone can see the capability of these fine rifles, even when the tank is practically empty!

Before I got my AF Condor SS 25 cal I knew I needed to be ready to put in some work time.
BUt when I did my homework here on TAG and tuned the gun in with little aftermarket parts used, it’s mostly stock.
An AF airgun is a Modifiers Tuners Dreamers delight !

For your information I keep my gun between 2200 to 3000 PSI (around 150 to 200 bar). I was shooting today, filled to 200 bar, two or three shots on the chrono then I was getting hole on hole at 20 yards immediately. I never get hole on hole, usually ragged hole some of the time. So I was delighted with that. I have a rubber Oring behind tophat. I think you mentioned Predator Polymags. I’m having more luck with them now. And one of the good things with those is I find the POI with the Polymags and the JSB 18grains is roughly the same, so you can switch between the two in a moment depending if you are shooting at paper or squirrel without adjusting your scope. Not so with some hunting pellets which can impact an inch or so lower than a target pellet depending on range.
Well thanks! I found the results to be very fascinating myself as well. I am yet to read of anyone who has taken down game in this fashion with the PSI being so low. I have just been tinkering as I wait for a few different pellets to show up later in the week. My goofing around took me all the way down to 300 PSI from a full 3,000 PSI fill…
and I now know that I can legitimately take small game with as little as 3-400 PSI in the tank. I would absolutely recommend everyone shoot their guns all the way down a few times and see just how amazing the results are. At first I never let it go below 2,000 PSI. Since these pellets are junk for this gun (at first) I just went lower and lower and lower, shooting at leaves in the pond and watching the splash. I anticipated no power whatsoever. Obviously I was pleased to not only hit the leaves in the pond with force, and the spinner target at 50 yards, but take a squirrel 40 yards out with serious put down power at only 400 PSI.
That’s cool to hear that your Polymags have shown improvements with the addition of the o-ring. I know you and some others advised against them but I see so many excellent and then sub-par reviews I figured it would not hurt to try them for myself and see what the results are.
The JSB 18grains and Polymags having a similar POI is particularly exciting for me as those were my top two picks originally. I also ordered the JSB heavy heavies and I think kodiaks as well.
A massive groundhog just took up residence under the shed, exactly 50 yards from the porch. I anticipate his demise next Saturday or Sunday, once I am dialed in with new pellets. I will be sure to report my findings and the damage done to his dome piece then!
I think you will find that once you get the right pellets you will have the best of both worlds, a gun that shoots very accurately and at high PSI. Your results are very interesting. You have managed to find a clever way to cloak your problem with pellet and barrel compatibility by running the pellets slower through barrel. (Unless those with more experience think it is something else).

Oh I will. I followed your advice and the other guys advice and started shooting in lower PSI ranges. I was really shocked when I found out it shot best at only 1,000 PSI down to 500 PSI or so with these pellets. I would have thought it would have been somewhere between 1,700 down. Well I was getting very inconsistent shots anywhere above 1,000 PSI. Oh well. At least I know the Condor gives me an incredible range of options. I can shoot these light pellets if I please, or the heavies if I want. Pretty bad@$$ I think!
Nice work! Glad you are getting there with your Condor. They take some more messing about with, but they are so worth it. I think you will love your new pellets, I’m sure you will let us know.
