First Impressions: JSB Exact King Heavies

Got a couple tins of the new JSB EK Heavies from Tony this weekend and just wanted to throw out an initial finding.

One-hole five shot groups with all three of my .25’s at 30 yrds…The Condor SS, the Marauder and the Cricket.

Also, I was shooting a target at 100 yards with the Cricket and slipped in a couple Heavies and they hit in the exact same spot, much to my surprise.

A very promising initial finding…so far so good.

Something about this computer and posting replies…hit the submit and all the time you spent writing something just vanishes and you have to log back on and start all over… :angrymob: 👿 :angrymob: :angrymob: :angrymob: :angrymob: :angrymob:

OK what did I say?

GKU, I’m sure that’s true about the Cricket and Heavies…but I don’t hunt much (so why did he buy a .25 🙄 ) so I’ll stick to the Kings for that rifle.
Doug at Maddog told me that the Condor does much better at long distances with heavier pellets so I’ll reserve the heavies for that rifle.

But, Tomato season is upon us and the squirrels here have developed a taste for marinara sauce on their acorns. Last year while guarding the garden I felt like I was on the beaches at Normandy…they were coming in from all directions…took out 9 in like 15 minutes. The Heavies might come in handy, though when I do hunt I like the Predators.

It’s good to see a new pellet out that doesn’t seem to be all that picky between rifles.

Nice KP,

I’ve heard Cricket 25 cals likes JSB Heavies @ 900 fps.
All in all yours seemed to be shooting it well as is.

OK, got out and got a little data last night;
Average Velocities for the Heavies in my guns:

Condor SS: (TT top hat, no insert): 950fps

Cricket: (stock) 820fps

Marauder(w A2A valve) 790fps

Shot three new targets; all three at 30 yards, 5 shots each out of each gun. I decided to shoot two targets for each gun and choose the best. This was mainly to just “warm up” the barrels…they seem to shoot better out of the case after a few initial shots…..then I was going to post the best of the two but the Cricket and Marauder shot so well on the first go around I didn’t shoot two for them.
Then with the last light of the evening light, I shot 2 targets at 50 yards with the Cricket. For all targets, winds were slight to calm.

Condor at 30; 11/16″ CtC

Cricket at 30; 1/4″ CtC

Marauder at 30; 3/8″ CtC

Cricket at 50; Left: 3/8″ and Right: 7/16″ CtC

Not scientific but a down and dirty test. I have to say, with my rifles, these Heavies perform every bit as good, (if not better at 50) as their little brothers.

Sorry not to have included that info, GKU. I had limited time to shoot this weekend so did not take velocity readings on the Marauder nor the Cricket. I did chrony on the Condor, which I’m running wide open with the TT tophat (no insert) with PW at 0 but I don’t have those number before me right now but I’ll retest tonight, weather permitting.
This is just a preliminary finding….I kinda wanted to just shoot them straight out of the box (1)… and they did very well. Pretty darned promising right out the gate…. better than Eun Jins, at least in my guns…your mileage may vary.

My first thoughts are to use them mainly in the Condor and leave the regular Kings for the other two rifles. Kinda thinking the Condor will become the “bulldozer” gun and the other two will be more finesse rifles. I mean last night I was cleanly shooting aspirin and paintballs off of golf tees at 50yds (no misses) with the Cricket and regular Kings….I’m gonna leave that alone.

(1) FYI: I did wash and wax the Heavies with Kryteck, so not really “straight out of the box.” I have been having real such good results with barrel cleanliness that I didn’t want to change that… so I have added a variable.

Hoping to hear what others are finding out.

That’s sweet, at what velocity are you shooting them at ?

Known Ballistic coefficient calculations for ya.
JSB King Heavy 34gr pellets G1 BC to be about .056

Harry Yrrah:
Heavy King 34 gr – .0542 MV 787 fps 47.94 fpe
