Can I Vice the Tank to Remove Valve?
My valve removal tool will be finished up tomorrow by a buddy with a grinder.
Will the tank withstand the pressure of a vice to grip on to it while I wrench off the valve?
What’s the best method to secure the tank? I’ve come across many instructions on valve removal tools, but very little on clamping the thank during the process!
Any tips on securing the tank would be greatly appreciated

@ Wildfire… I know I know I made sure!! You sound like my grandpa… “be careful boy! always be careful!” just kidding, thanks for the advice! 🙂 I will definitely be heating it up some to get it off on round # two tomorrow.

You can “vise” the tank to remove the valve but you risk damaging the tank. If you must put it in a vise, wrap it in several layers of cloth towel first.
I used a rubber strap wrench when I removed my valve. You can heat the neck of the tank to make removal easier. Use caution though!!!!! You don’t have to heat it much to get the neck of the bottle to expand a little.
I’m sure I don’t have to say this and I apologize in advance! MAKE SURE THE BOTTLE IS EMPTY!

Well I got it off. Guy at work ground the bolt down and my tool was complete. I put it on the valve and began to give it a go by hand. I damn near gave myself a hernia from the strain… But it finally gave and came off. I thought my wrist broke when the threads finally broke loose. Definitely sprained something. Oh well… At least that sucker is off!!!
