A Gift From Son To Father: Building The PERFECT PCP! HELP!
I need some advice on designing my dad’s first PCP.
It hasn’t always been rainbows and butterfly’s between us … I think this might be his way of breaking the ice and giving us something to do together as father and son. He has asked me to have a custom PCP built for him and I’ll be damned if it’s not done perfectly! I want this to be the ultimate gift to my old man and come out of the box shooting 1 hole groups all day long.
He is in awe at my Condor and the game I have successfully taken with it at varying ranges and different sized target.
He needs something quiet, with enough punch for ground squirrels, rabbits, and crows out to 100 yards with 20-60 yards being the average/ most common distance.
Ideally I would order him a Talon Tunes Condor and let Tony do his magic.
I want it to have an 18″ .22 barrel with a 6″ TT shroud and a Quick Change Top Hat. I would like it to get a minimum of 50 good shots before he has to pump it up.
Problem is… Would a Cricket be a better option? I will say the Condor package is already pushing it so maybe an Air force PCP is the best route money wise?
Can Tony @ Talon Tunes build what I just described? Can it come with an 18″ barrel and no 24″ barrel without having to pay an additional fee for swapping barrels for me?
A shrouded Condor is just too long. A shrouded Talon SS might work but I think he wants the Condor frame and Condor power when he needs it.
I truly want this to be an incredible gift to my dad. This means so much to me, especially with him coming to me to set him up! I’m ready to get rolling with this so let me know what to think about or who to call!
Thanks guys

mrshowtime- your request sounds similar to what I too would like to own.
Cally88… The ONLY reason I am apprehensive about going with a Condor would be the single shot action. My dad historically has not been a fan of single shot designs when mag-fed options are readily available. The Condor and other Airforce PCP variants have so much going for them with power adjustments and customization and accuracy, that I still think my dad would greatly enjoy a custom Condor! I sent him information on the Kalibrigun Cricket and FX Bobcat last night to give him a better idea of the options out there. If he gets back to me and says he thinks he will be happy with a single shot, then I will know exactly what to do with a customer Condor.
My purpose of this thread was to hopefully get more feedback than I have received, as this is a special moment for me and I want to make sure he open that box to find a perfectly designed air rifle, built perfectly for what he intends to use it for. I know I love my Condor and would not trade it for anything, so that is still the most favorable option at this time :biggrinn:
