Shorty arrived
Delivery guy stopped by about 30 min ago. Just enough time for a quick unboxing. :biggrinn: Here it is next to it’s “big brother” my .177 comppact cricket:

I’ve only shot it into some duct seal at this point, but if it is shooting at the enclosed specs it is remarkably quiet for 25 ftlb. Really quiet, in fact. Significantly quieter than my cricket (without the mod shown). No big hammer slap or ping which is nice compared to my cricket.
Now about the specs, my test string looks erratic but may just need to settle some / be tweeked. I suck at tweeking anything so hopefully it will settle. The target is also a little erratic (IMO) for 35 yds, but we’ll see.
Oh, it feels light for a 6.5lb gun. It may be in the rear biased balance.
The trigger, as set, it’s to my liking so a big thank you to those that put up schematics on how to adjust it. As it stands it is basically a single stage, albeit very crisp and light.
I hope to punch some paper later today.

how many shots r you getting before it drops off the reg? 🙄
and what grain pellets were u using? 🙄
I’ll run some strings tomorrow. Damn conference calls kept me from playing (too) much today. I’ve only shot the 18gr jsb so far, but I have 16gr and 13.4gr arriving on thursday. I ordered the two flavors of lighter pellets thinking I would need to keep the power lower to keep the noise low, but at 25ftlb it’s pretty darn quiet so that may not be needed. The lighter pellets may still be in order once I run some strings and plot out the trajectory I want.
What is needed is a different scope/rings combo. I slapped the BB on it since it was handy but the rings are too low for my big head. I’ve got an Aeon sitting around that I’ll throw on it tonight with some high rings and see how it goes. The Aeon will likely be too big/heavy, but it might shoulder better until I get some lighter glass.

REAL NICE. It does look good tooo. I bet that shot inconsistency goes away when the gun break in. Like to hear it’s quiet. Love the Rapid stock on that bug gun.

Congrats Ben. I’m jelly. That black stock looks really nice. Will have to get me one too. Hopefully there is enough pennies in my piggy bank. 😳 I’ve been wanting a short /quiet (subjective)/accurate airgun for hunting in thick timbers. :whistle:
