Talon SS and Hill pump
First real air gun…Glanced at manual, attached tank, hooked up pump…
Over 100 pumps ans needles still pegged hard at zero. Is that the way it should be?
I’m worn out and no progress. Can yall help a noob? :3:

BR you making any progress? I hand pumped my Condor SS when I first got it… I was VERY surprised the first time I did it! Took me 2 evenings after work to get it to 2000 psi. I did have one false start in that I did not have the vent properly closed on the pump. Make sure your Foster QD is firmly connected to your fill nipple on your tank. “Skin” the QD back and push it ALL THE WAY ON the nipple and make sure the sleeve on the QD moves fully forward and locks into place.
The good thing is once you get pressure in the tank, you won’t have to pump it up from zero again unless you do some mods or maintenance that requires you to bleed the tank. It’s not bad pumping up from 1500-1800 back up to 2500-2800 psi. Having said that, I got myself a tank as quick as I could! :8:
To fill a big tank like talon will be hell of job. Hand pumps are good to fill a max 250cc tank up to 200 ~ 250 Bars. The prob you mentioned, after 100 strokes what’s the pressure showing in the pump? and make sure you are bringing the pump handle all the way up hold a second and bring down slowly. A small pause between each strokes will allow the compressed air to move through the chambers inside the pump. What’s the tank pressure when you started pumping?

You have to fill the volume of the tank first then pressure will slowly build, about 500 strokes. Once you fill the tank though, if you refill at 1000 PSI or so, it will be much easier to fill. I highly recommend a 4500 PSI takn to fill your gun. Expensive at first but well worth the investment.

sounds like you have a leak somewhere…. do you hear a hiss? if so then tighten up all connections and check the pressure relief valve on the hill (big round brass knob)
remember to take frequent breaks so you don’t build up heat and kill your “o” rings. Most people pump slowly for about 5 min then rest for 15. Good luck, and keep your eyes out for a cheap scuba tank 😉
I thought that after over a hundred pumps I’d see, at least, the needles quiver a little.
Even tho no air in tank pump handle wants to rise. Seems like air’s not getting to tank…staying in hose and pump…possible?

Welcome to hand pumping a PCP! lol Yeap that’s normal. Takes a lot of pumps. Make sure the release valve on the hill pump is closed. If its open you will pump all day and just blow the air out of the pump. Other than that just gotta keep pumping. I think it takes about 400 to fill my condor from 0 to 3k.

Just remember , you do not want to stroke it too hard or too fast , it may make you become blind and if that happens then your airgun
shooting days are over .
