Q:

Taipan Mutant Shorty @ 50 Yards

This is it.
The good, the bad and not so bad..
Brand new. Right out of the box.
This gun is damn fun to shoot.
This is from shooting indoors for about 15 yards to outside 35 yards
18 grn JSB Exact out of the tin….820 FPS Light swirling winds

To me, this proves how accurate this rifle can be. As others pointed out, there is a definite technique to shooting it.
I was shooting off a led sled. The rifle is so small that it barely fit, so the air res was on the front rest. Not good IMO and different holds
had different results.
Scope is Bushnell Elite 4200 with La Rue QR mounts.

Thanks,Tony

Tony , so what type , brand , power , of a short light with high quality scope would you put on this gun ?

This rifle will grow on you.
Deep dark bluing and the quietest shooting, out of the box file I have ever shot!

How would you say this one compares to the cricket compact in sound? It seems with that short barrel and little shroud it may have a different pitch.

I Would say its quieter than the cricket compact…. I had a .22 compact…. its been a while since i had the compact but id say it is easier on the ears.

Just a little FYI the barrel on the shorty ends almost even with the front clamp. its actually flush with the back of the shroud, so its more of an LDC so to speak than a shroud……

Anthony I’m a little confused, the pic says 50 yards and your post says 15 indoor and 35 yards outside? So the better groups are 15 yards and the larger ones are 35 ?

I think that what he is saying here “This is from shooting indoors for about 15 yards to outside 35 yards”

basically his range is 15yards indoors…. then another 35 out doors for a combined 50 yards….

So i would imagine he is limited in space so he opens his door and shoots out to a target… just so happens the door is 15 yards from him.

Hey Greg did you decide on what scope your putting on the Mutant Shorty?

Not quit …… …… … … . Sam.

To test out my New Mutant I’ll use my Hawke Sidewinder 8-32×56 20x ½ Mil Dot for the first 2,000 rounds.
In time depending on the accuracy and trajectory I’m getting, I’ll be stepping the mag down on the Hawke as I go.

A lighter weighted lower powered 12x, another 18.7oz. Mamba Lite maybe ?
I don’t like to use hi mag scopes now days ,,,,,,,, continuously anyway ,,,,,,,,, aim small, miss small.
