Big bore valve vs normal pellets
Hi guys I am new to this forum, and I am myself a cnc machnist and from Switzerland, I am a big fan of the Airforce guns. And I am a longtime reader of this forum, but was always voicless, but since a while a question is in my mind, and I saw here are a few guys which have highli tunend condors, and I wonder what kind of velocities they can get out of a 15 grain pellet in 177 or .22. I am almost certain that there are some physical restrictions in the medium itself (air) to propell something faster then the speed of sound in air with air. What is the highest fps which could be achieved by an airgun with light pellets.
happy shooting to all of you.
Josh

What kind of mods have you done? And on which pressure you ran the tank? I am thinking whe you attach a 4500psi bottle and a heavy hammer and a spring which closes the valve after the hammer stiked it it could work. I want something like 16-1800 fps Ive made a gun with a 1:9 twist barrel to shoot longer more suitable projectiles for supersonic speeds. I callculated the bulllet would stay abot 70-80 yards supersonic with 1400 fps at the muzzle. The bullet which I have designed have a bc of rughly 0.15 at that speed. That would make a hell of a flat shooting round. It should shoot out to 90 yards within 2 inches. Thats my goal. Oh the bullets which ive designed are 177. Cal.
