Q:

WAR Flex vs ????

I have been reading up on some new rifles that been coming out such as the “Flex” by Wicked Air Rifles and the “Slayer” by American Air Arms and of course FX’s Impact and they are starting to look promising from what numbers they are slowly leaking out there. Now in this I am just comparing the Flex and Bobcat 30 cal for obvious reasons Slayer 30cal and Impact have not been released yet.

Flex 30 by Wicked Air Rifles numbers are pulled from ( http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=94941.msg892541#msg892541 )

FLEX non-reg – 27 shots
FPE/cuin 1.37
Bar-cc/FPE 12
avg PSI used per shot 26
FPE per shot avg 80.5
FPS avg 900

Bobcat 30 by FX the numbers where pulled from ( http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/thread/1406175209 )

bobcat 248-180 bar – 27 shots
FPE/cuin 1.03
Bar-cc/FPE 15.8
avg PSI used per shot 37
FPE per shot avg 74.7
FPS avg 867

From the numbers above which were calculated using this calculator ( http://www.calc.sikes.us ) the 30 cal FLEX is more efficient than that of the Fx Bobcat with air consumption. If I plugged the numbers right I am really impressed with the out come considering the FLEX is using a 17″ barrel compared with the 23-24″ barrel of the bobcat. Longer barrels are not so much needed for accuracy but it does assist in getting the most efficient use of your air when it comes to FPS…. and as the numbers show the FLEX with the shorter barrel is getting more of everything.

We all now that the FX Bobcat and it brother Boss shot rather well as you can look at the “Extreme BenchRest” ( http://www.extremebenchrest.com) results from the past few years so it this is no diss on FX in no way they are shooters but, there are some new rifles out there with some possible great potential.

I was at the Fun Shoot and saw both the Flex and the Slayer and talked at length with their creators. You will not go wrong with either and please forgive the little bit of flag waving, both are Made In USA.

I will be calling Travis to look into getting a Flex. I really like the looks of it and it is showing great accuracy out past 100 yards and to 200 yards. My .30 cal Bobcat really falls off accuracy wise past 100 yards. I believe it is do to the smooth twist barrel doesn’t put a fast enough twist on the pellets. That is why I am looking into the Flex. It can push the JSB fast enough to get it out to 200 yards. I have a Condor with a 257 barrel shooting slugs, but something about shooting standard diabolo at long ranges really appeals to me. The shot count on the Flex unregulated looks great. If they can get that power from a regulated gun that will really be awesome and really help the shot count.
