You can average 18-22 fps per inch of barrel.

80% of the time, it’s faster all the time.

Other factors being the same? OK, which air rifle? An Edge, a Condor SS, a Texan, a Marauder, a Mutant…? Then, how is each one adjusted? Do you see where I am going?

With PCP air rifles, generally speaking, the longer the barrel, the more efficient it is. It gives the air more time to transfer energy to the projectile.

A while back Tom Gaylord did a report on the AirForce Edge. He swapped out the 12 inch barrel with an 18 inch and a 24 inch barrel. If my faded memory serves me correctly, the 18 inch barrel increased the velocity somewhere around 50 FPS and the 24 inch increased it another 25 FPS or so. If you dig through his blogs you can find that report.

He also did an in depth report on the Talon SS where he also swapped out different barrels. This is well worth reading through.
