Q:

How to reduce hammer spring force?

Hi,
I’m trying to reduce the hammer spring tension of my Air Rifle. I could not find any low strength springs for a replace.
If I trim 1 or 2 coils from the stock HS will it reduce the hammer striking force?
Please help..

Regulator is from http://www.pcptunes.com
First check without regulator. Run a full string and check @ what pressure you getting 40 fpe to get an idea where to set regulator and determine shot counts.

quote amjadck:

Rifle is Evanix Rainstorm in 177. It’s regulated @ 120 bar. Big transfer port was reducing the shot counts and increasing fps. The only easy way I fig is to reduce the Hst.
Let me know if there are better ways. Will try them too.
Now the issue facing is hammer bounce which is reducing efficiency a bit.

Hello I want to know more about the regulator, brand and efficency… I`m thinking in buy a Evanux Rainstorm and put a lane regulator set at 140 bar for .22 cal-. But i don`t know if this is good idea. I`m looking for a 30-36 powerful shots (betwee near 40 fpe with eunjin pellets)
thanks

There’s got to have been a better way to do that.
I don’t know your rifle but there are usually other ways to reduce spring pre-compression and hammer energy.

But if it is good for you, not harm done.
Enjoy

This was what I’m getting with stock spring.

Reduced 2 coils to get this string

Reduced 2 more. Gun is not firing, spring don’t have enough force to push the valve. Screw in Hst 4.5 turn and achieved this

Happy. Just stopped there assembled back. From 30 to 104 shots really didn’t expect

Oh boy …

got lucky I guess.
Trimmed 2 coils out now I’m getting 65 shots with a spread of 30 fps @ 928 fps average. Have to look for weaker spring anyway. Now the only problem is there’s a creepy sound while cocking.

Golly Gee Whiz! I think I would be a good bit more diligent in hunting for a spring before I cut the one you have. What happens if you do not like the results? Then you are going to have to hunt for a replacement spring.

It’s Evanix Rainstorm II regulated, shooting CPH 10.5 grns @ 950. I’m only getting max 30 shots. So I thought by reducing hammer strike force a bit will increase the shot count a bit and bring the velocity down

Exactly

Why are you trying to reduce the spring tension? To reduce fps/fpe ?
Wildfire :5:
