Q:

700 yds on Steel-Noe 83 gr

Hi All,

Went to Coalinga Ca yesterday on their 1000 yd range, 8/17/15…Placed the 500 meter RAM at the 300 yd berm for 700 yds…It is getting more difficult as i go out further, the target is SMALLER….NRA competition, the target is larger as distance increases ;D. Had 12, hits but new video camera SHUTS down AUTOMATICALLY so have only 6 hits on video captured, with couple shots in dirt. Turn camera on, get in car and drive the 700 yds back, get on gun, shoot test shots way right to see that NOT COMING CLOSE to camera and carbon tripod…..Anyway i run out of time camera runs before AUTO OFF….SETTINGS show nothing how to change…Have inquiry to canon to see if possible even….Include a still pic of the 12 hits….Actually on VIDEO the 3rd hit didn’t leave a black mark but skimmed belly with a ding but skidded into dirt….Bullets shattered and pic is them completely compressed as still enough energy at 700 yds..Recovered the thin hit and it halved bullet length wise…It is 11 o’clock in bullet pic.
On video’s click low right corner to view FULL SCREEN and turn sound up to hear the CRACK of that bullet energy STILL AT 700 yds.

1 min video 700 yds https://youtu.be/sxg32JlVSTI

World Record 700 yd shot done 2 weeks ago= 16 sec VIDEO… Ram fell down first hit and battery dead so no more that day https://youtu.be/zdE2lYjtM3c

Zoomed 700 yd distance of RAM 1 min VIDEO https://youtu.be/ffKxKQUhtxM

Some bullet fragments were found 25 ft away, back towards gun..WOW what impact. This gun keeps surprising me 8)

3rd time shooting at 700 yds…Have another vid of hits on steel from 3+ weeks ago, but forgot white paint and RAM IS FUGLY 😯

Thanks for watching and inquries welcome………….Carl

Bottom pic looks down range…..Get close and right in middle of 1000 yd number boards you see spec of the white RAM..This is on the 200 yd berm…..So 800 yds downrange……..

I understand your bench-rest shooting , mines purely varmints.

I have the CATALINA tank like Cedric and it was 863 cc and that is what i got the 8-10 great shot bell curve..But it doesn’t come in the correct thread…I got it from DOUG and he modified, re-cut thread….for CONDOR VALVING………Thread is M18x1.5

I never could get a good curve with 500 cc tank, like 6 fair shots before dropping to far……..YMMV

Where did you get the air tank,is that the one from Tony?

The CF on the gun is straight from Mainland China and was internet…It is rated 4350 psi…….I have an Evanix CF rated at 3650 psi….mounted on my other .257 ………Get the one from Tony as i believe it rated at 3650 psi…..All you will need for pressure. I have never gone beyond 4000 psi testing and i had already surpassed the accuracy node and don’t shoot beyond 3500 psi now…Maybe way out there with the 90 gr may boost to 3700 but other than tad less drop accuracy no better……….Also the TEST PRESSURE of these tanks is near double working pressure although i have seen test pressure of like 5600 psi but my point being i am NOT AFRAID to add 200-300 psi MORE IF NEEDED over working pressure on tank!!……….The BURST/FAIL pressure of carbon bottles is around 15,000 psi………There SHOULD be a BURST plug just beyond TESTING PRESSURE?? As a FAIL SAFETY

I also used 3400 psi with the AL TANKS and i have 2. Stock and a Catalina 863 cc….. YMMV……………If you want a CF tank and Tony”s is available, get his…………It will have all the pressure you need……I shoot my 62 gr at 3200 psi and have a NOE and BBT at that weight and at that pressure is around 1080 fps…….Have shot to 1300 fps at 4000 psi but horrible accuracy and big waste of AIR…..Carl

Thanks Carl

Can you please post information on what modifications have been done and specs of your gun?

Gun is my special build… Ordered stock CONDOR FRAME ONLY, which included breach and trigger is all…..TJ 34″ .257 bbl in 14″ twist.105 gram brass hammer, my special ordered 10+ lb hammer springs. Doug Noble .25 VALVE and is the MAIN PART of guns success. Has carbon fiber sleeve over barrel to the Power Wheel. Then a 1.125″ DRAWN ALUMINUM TUBE over that from PW to end of barrel. Less threaded portion for AIR STRIPPER, HATSAN. No dimples drilled in barrel, only dimples in full length bushing or barrel shroud that IS THE BUSHING, and all are epoxied together or chemically welded …… Weights on barrel to HELP control the harmonics upon firing. Hawke 8×32 scope with 20 Mil Dot Reticle. Tank now is from China, carbon fiber with 4350 psi working pressure but usually ONLY use 3200-3500 psi from 62 grain up to 90 grain bullets….As MORE PSI just makes GROUPS LARGER at 100 yd testing……..MADDOG Benchrest stock….Pretty much it………As gun sits on the rests in picture is around $2700 with scope and mounting……It keeps surprising me just how good it is for AIR POWERED……I have shot it to 800 yds but did not have a good enough video to post but bullets still hit hard and kick up dirt on misses and only hit steel once but it RANG LOUDLY STILL with lots of energy……..I need any further a taller bank to shoot at to really see the elevation changes to the misses and where shooting not really enough room at the 800 yd berm??

Hope this is of help? Carl

LOVE IT, it sure does still have a lot of energy left at 700 yds to flatten those bullets, I still would be interested to know how many shots from bottle without been attached to big bottle, just out of interest lol. (Long ways for a air rifle ) that a long way for a powder burner lol

well done again.

Mark

HOW MANY Shots don’t interest me, as i always shoot benched and unless you are carrying gun and hunting there is NO NEED to know, as I don’t care…I always get consistent pressure with each shot…When i started got around 6 good shots and each shot was less with 500 cc bottle..Used a 53 cu in bottle and got easily a curve and 8-10 shots before it dropped to much….That was an 850 cc bottle…….Thanks ……….Carl
