Q:

Just got in a tin of the new 25 cal Exact Heavies (33,95gr)

I shot a clip through my Matador R3M. They load into the magazine as easily as the 25 cal Exact (25 grain). My R3M shoots the 25 grain Exacts at an average of 928 fps which equals 48.56 FPE. The new 33.95 grain Exact Heavies come out of the muzzle (with no change to gun settings) at an average of 799 fps which equals 48.14 FPE.
So really, what am I gaining??? The heavier pellet is longer and possibly has a better Ballistic Coefficient. I know that this is a matter of personal choice but still, I place value on all of your opinions. And here is my question: Would I be just as well off to continue shooting the 25 grain Exacts at 928 fps???
I suppose that I could turn my hammer spring in to where it shoots the heavier pellets at 820 fps (50.7 FPE) but that seems to be alot of work for an additional 2 FPE. Am I being rational by just leaving well enough alone and continue using the 25 grain Exacts?
Another question: Has anyone had good results with the 27 grain Benjamin 25 cal pellets? They are made of a harder lead (lead + antimony).
Anyway, y’all have a great weekend!

Kevin yes. The predators fly well as long as they retain speed. They are usable out to 60 yards. They do not hold MOA at 70 plus yards. I have stopped experimenting with pellets. Just buy the JSB. It’s what ed designed his barrel for anyway.

I think they are a waste of money. I am not willing to turn my gun up to get them to fly. Harry Y on yellow did a really good write up on them. I tested them in the EDgun and I came to the conclusion that if I need more foot pound then I’ll buy a .30.

I agree. I think that I will stick to my Exact (25 grain) at 928 fps. Keyser Soze, have you tried the Predator (the ones with the red polymer tip) in your 25 EDgun?? If so, is the accuracy comparable to the 25 grain Exacts??

loopier trajectory? shorter range? ❓

Heavier pellet maybe better over longer distances with windy conditions

I know one guy that tested the revised ones with the correct skirt diameters and got 3/4″ groups regularly at 100 yards but he had them at about 920 fps. It was a modified Condor. Need less to say he was really impressed with them. Oh I think he said the BC was up to about .053.

You’re welcome.

Ok, so you already know what the gun will do with the heavies. Now I know what they will do in mine and won’t bother buying some. I’ll keep shooting the lighter ones. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. :8:
