Q:

Ultramegaflow Valve Construction for 1l 4500psi bottle

Hi Folks,

I asked here on the forum if someone could supply a construction drawing of an AF highflow valve, since nobody wanted to share his work I constructed my own 😉 which would work with my paintballtank which I have layin arround, I had to strech the valvebody a bit that the fat tank fits on the gun.

I attach some pictures for you, any coments are welcome. Ive tested the valve for 100Mpa pressure and it should work for 45Mpa pressure.

not bad at all. Good work on the valve. I am assuming your numbers with the crow mags are 22 cal?

No 31 grain .25 cals:-) well it is still underperforming against a regular highflow valve, but I need to bore out the hole of the valvestem to 5.6mm actualy it is only 4.8, thats what restricts more flow at the moment. The good thing about my construction is that it opens at 4000 or 4500 psi. When I want to shoot slugs I need way more air 🙂 but thats an easy fix, pound the stem on the lathe and bore it out. This evening I will know more, I’ll post the numbers this evening.

To get a bell curve in pellet fps I may need to remove the aditional hammer weight. Now its 65 gramms and it opens up to 4500psi and fps increases still if I fill higher. But I only get hp air under 5000psi. But the difference in fps from 3000 to 4500 is marginal at the moment, as mentioned the valvestem is restricting the flow I guess.

I was testing my valve today, and it seems a pretty good construction, as the delrin cap is smaller like on a regular condor valve, I can open the valve with the stock hammer weight with no problems at 4000psi. But I get the same velocity out of it, if i fill to 4000 or 3200 maybe the hammer or the flow in the valve is on its limit. Further testing will show what the problem is.

Chrono results out of my Talon P with 12 inch barrel.

For the H&N Crow Magnum (Beeman Crow Magnum)

881
865
858
858
848

at arround 3200 start down to 3000

For the 177 barrel I get with 10.4 grain pellets arround 1300 fps.

But my final goal is to get a 15 grainer out to a 100 yards at supersonic speed that means i have to crack him off at arround 1800 fps, Ill try a heavier hammer, and when that is not working I will make a flow simulation for the valve and see where the problem is.

Do you have prints avail. with the dimensions and the appropriate type of metal stock to use called out on it. A pdf file would be ideal for me, as I cant open cad files.
I will give your design a whirl on my lathe…. I wont have to stoke the fire or pump up the steam…. My lathe plugs into the same power outlet that my electric clothes dryer would plug into. It uses a single phase 220 v electric induction motor. No fire, boiler, steam driven pistons or flywheel required. The ultimate convienence in a home shop lathe!
As they say at the Depot….”let’s do this”. :1:

I like the thicker base on it. I am going to look at drilling and tapping a valve when i get home to add a pressure gage and fill nipple yours looks like it would be perfect for that.

Be careful with your designs though, some troll hijacked dyotats design and that he was nice enough to share with people.

Good luck on your build. Cannot wait to see the final project.

Well that drilling and tapping, is a nice idea but I asume you only have the old valves for your gun? not spinlock right? Well, as soon I get home I will put steem on my lathe and will make myself a nice valve. I am sorry for your friend, but I’ve learned so much from that forum that I can share that stuff which I put on here, if someone makes himself a valve like above I dont care;-) Its anyway just a extended standart highflowvalve with a bigger hole for more airflow:-) And if a guy is able to machine that he earns the valve anyway, if he is sellin it he should send me one for compensation.

I think in one or two months my project will take shape and I hope to achieve my goals which I earlyer mentioned, 20 grains at 2000 fps. But with 4500psi it should work.

I’ll post as soon as I will have the Valve made, I will share in this thread my experience.
