I will try an o-ring on the hammer extension sometime this week.
It can’t do any harm and just might have a surprising effect.
So we do agree on many things. We ARE friends but that doesn’t mean we have to have the same opinion on things.
It’s all cool for my part. 🙂

Wipe your tears and read about the problems around the Forum – almost exclusively American imports. This is an American Forum and that could explain a lot but then again i never hear any such issues from owners here.
And , FYI , the correct expression is : Comarade. 😉 And having an opinion differing yours doesn’t mean one is a Communist. Or maybe you think it does ??

No one´s treading on you Lurkster. I just find the fact that so many US import Vulcans have flaws that we don´t have on this side of the Atlantic rather weird. And i´m pretty sure everybody buys things with the intention on using them – regardless which side of what Ocean they´re located, right ?
Let’s just talk about what we do to learn about and improve our airguns and not interject fault on either side of the pond.
My mercedes van transmission died luckily while under warranty so it was replaced. I was told that they had improved the design recently. But a bunch got exported. Then last year it was dieing slowly and I barely made it to a mercedies dealer in Florida. I was happy to pay over $2,000 to get a couple parts rushed from germany. But it is a great product.
Maybe the issue is that when we buy things we intend to use them.
Enough said ???

I’m not out trying to help the manufacturer in any way. It’s just weird that 99% of the problematic Vulcans are on that side of the Pond. Doesn’t take as suspicious mind as mine to realize something’s different there -hence i thought about the dealers Fuxing things up.
I don’t belittle anyones efforts either. It’s just weird that you don’t seem to even try these guns before diving into them and neither do you seem to care/know that the barrel was designed to shoot 16gr JSB’s at 930 fps – not spitting out things 80 ft below that speed.
And – i drive and own European (German ) Cars so no Lemons here 😉

Damn villee mine was CHECKED for function before shipping on to me and I appreciate that kind of service.
Obviously the manufacturer has had the expected new product quality control growing pains and that was anticipated by us.
When production got shut down due to the loss of a stock supplier and then again for a month long EU holiday it took time to get production and quality control up to speed. Haven’t you ever bought a new auto that was produced just before a shut down ❓ I worked final assembly at one auto plant that sped up all lines the last several weeks to get crap out of the plant. I liked the looks of their cars but have never bought one since then. You ever buy a lemon of an auto ❓ It was probably produced in the first or last month of production. Not that AirGun Technology ever had a problem. :whistle:
We don’t like to complain about little things but many of us don’t understand buying from a dealer that hasn’t received parts and initial service training. THAT DEALERS HANDS OFF POLICY PISSES ME OFF :angrymob:

At the price of these bullpups, we expected the safety to be smooth and fully functional but many found out otherwise. But we take care of what we can. Also the action should be smooth at these prices but apparently we just have to suck it up and ‘break it in :butkick: I’ve paid a lot less for a rifle that didn’t have to be used to operate smoothly. But OK we got together and do the finishing touches that the factory didn’t have the help to do.

Villee your belittling our attempts to help fix problems will not help the manufacturer.
As it seems the best Vulcan is to be obtained in the following manner:
Tell the Vendor/Importer to not touch it. You want yours as it comes from the factory. Anyone accustomed to Cricket/EG regs will soon find that the reg isn´t adjusted in “1/4 turn, maybe 1/6 turn” increments and those without any knowledge on the Vulcan (very few have and i know nothing nor i want to know – just shooting mine as it came and it delivers every time, every shot) should keep their mitts the hell away. The worst thing you can do is to dive into the Gun before it´s even broken in and start to “tune” it. i quarantee it doesn´t work better that it did from the Factory – AND the factory tuned doesn´t mean : “Tuned by me before i send them to my Customers”. Leave things alone !

I don’t think this would work anyways. There isn’t anything that the large diameter body portion of the hammer comes into contact against as it flies forward.
All that hits is the thin front probe portion against the poppet valve. The hit of that small tip is what stops the forward motion, not the large body hitting something.
The o-ring hammer slap fix for the Condor/Talon works because the larger diameter hammer hits the outer portion of the valve assembly.
That simply doesn’t happen in Vulcan. So, there isn’t an excess, extra hammer body slap to remove with an o-ring.
Sure you could stack a huge number of o-rings and increase the diameter of the vulcan hammer to engage the outer portion of the poppet valve, but I don’t think it would be worth the effort.
1. You would add an ever changing cushion of multiple o-rings that alter hammer strike force
2. There isn’t a hammer body slap to eliminate
3. You will decrease the velocity of valve opening and increase lock time
If one threaded the striking end of the hammer to add a wide diameter “top hat” bushing, locking grub, and cushioning o-ring, one could do it with repeatable effect.
That’s more fuxing than I would do.

I have basically tried this. Didn’t seem to have as much sound reduction effect as hoped.
