End cap screw=kind of a big deal
Recently removed my shroud for a hunting trip and apparently I didn’t properly align the set screw in my end cap. Resulted in my rifle sounding like a cannon from blowing the end cap off along with all the baffles. As a mechanic for 20 years, I’m still kicking myself in the ass over this rookie mistake..
Bigger problem was that it happened while I was out hunting in really tall grass. After hours of desperately searching thru the grass, I was only able to recover the end cap and 2 baffles. So I think I’m still missing the spring washer and 1 baffle?

I didn’t have any luck searching the parts(washer and baffle) individually online so I ordered the entire sound-loc kit(which hardly anyone has in stock anymore!) for $80.
My question is, on the kit it shows a “baffle spacer” and I’m wondering if that spacer is only used on the upgrade kits of the older Talons? Also, looking down the barrel of mine I see a screw sticking thru it. Does that screw stop the first baffle to maintain a space between the vented bushing and the baffle? or does the baffle sit flush against the bushing with the screw installed last?
Haven’t found any updated videos showing the baffle install on the newer Talon SS. Only found a video showing Pandemics sound-loc kit installation on what appears to be an older model with the “spacer”.
I also recently installed Tony’s hammer with slap mod and I honestly cant remember if I put that screw in before or after putting the baffles in.
Any info on this would be much appreciated 🙂

Gary73 , I did the same thing and blew everything out of the barrel , found all except the curved washer . You really don’t need it . What I
did was replace it with the washers that you would use for a standard garden water hose . No big deal still shoots great even though I up-
graded caliber to a .25 barrel and there is no clipping issues at all .

I used a hand pump for many years, in fact 4 of them.
After my friend forgot his CF tank at my house and I started to use it.
I had a hard time letting it go back to him.
I ended up buying one and I never touched that pump again.
Soon after that, I got a Omega SC also.

Ah wish I saw that earlier Greg! I already ordered and received the new kit from R&L. Everything’s working good again.
Now I’m just having a little trouble finding the bell curve on this thing. I just got a new chrony, and I’m playing around with power wheel settings and fill pressure on this Talon. So far I think I might be starting with the power wheel set too high because my FPS is always a steady drop after the first shot.
I’ve tried starting with the PW at 11, 10 and 9 soo far, with a starting pressure of 3000 psi each time. Time to buy an air tank.. this hand pumping is getting old real fast…

I know PA is out of stock on the sound-loc kit.
I found it, an old dirty used kit but in new condition I had when I was experimenting on a LDC design I made for my Condor SS 25 cal.
I don’t need to kit anymore , I sold the Condor.

your right the baffle does look like it took a hit from the pellet. The end cap has a hit mark on the inside too. I’m guessing it was from the shot that blew them out? I wasn’t having any accuracy issues prior to this happening. It was a nail driver at 50 yards.
I guess i’ll see what happens after I get my replacement parts. I’ll shoot a few then take it apart again and check.
You don’t use that short tube/pipe that came with the sound-loc kit, it’s for older models with no set screw to hold forward the 3 baffles.
The set screw should be in there before installing the baffles.
You can tell when you have to much room to spare, there’s noting stopping the baffles from going all the way in till it make contact with the barrel bushing.
On your picture the baffle on the right has the evidence of the tread marks on it face left behind from the set screw.
Also looks like it took a bad hit from a/the pellet ?
