Q:

Advice: Quietest/best LDC for Cricket .25 cal?

New to PCP’s, just got a new to me Cricket Synthetic with an Ernest tune putting out 900-903 FPS with JSB Kings 25. I’ve got the factory shroud.

What is the best/quietest LDC setup for this gun? And from who (contact info or website please)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am still using Donny’s PVC, shroud , Condom shroud, working great on the 22 but I cracked it on the 25 taking it off and fixed it with black paint and JB weld, Still worked good just did not look real pretty, And we all no we have to have the Crickets looking pretty..
Now just my option if I get an after market shroud I want it to screw on like the stock one, Not stay on with set screws. :2cents:
I think the PVC Condom over shroud is and was one of the best brain storms of Donny, :biggrinn: :biggrinn:
Really made a big difference in the 22 and 25 Crickets,

Donny’s stuff is second to none . Plus hes a blast to talk to and VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE!! He is active on this forum …tell him ” one eyed Joe ” sent ya 🙂

Donny’s is amazing he is awesome to work with also

Did the Clague shroud screw on just like the stock shroud? Or did it use set screws?
Mike

I have one of Donny’s LDC’s and it is very good. However, I did not like the added length. I picked up a Clague shroud and it is just as good, with little added length.

Coda, I love that sound….

On sparrows and starlings the impact is like a lady finger firecracker going off IMO and then the puff of feathers. 😆 I like that sound. 😉

Reminds me of the telltale thump of prairie dog hit.

I’ve got Donny’s shrouds and LDC’s on my .22 and my .25… absolutely no muzzle sound. When shot, they make 2 sounds… hammer hitting the release valve on the back side of the regulator that produces the shot, and then whatever the pellet hits makes a sound. Sometimes that sound is quite loud, especially if impact is above or in open water. The gun itself is dead silent. My .25 is shooting at 920 and the .22 is at 880 fps.

Not real sure I understood them, But the aftermarket shroud is larger in the round ness of it, OD and ID , So there for can not thread on like the stock one.
Makes since to me , Maybe make the front smaller same OD as the stock shroud then enlarge going down towards the barrel.
I am not a machinist so I do not no how hard that would be,,,
Sounds easy.
Mike

I agree – forget the set screws and make it direct replacement for the entire stock shroud.

Topguns shroud is held on with set screws,
I emailed them and told them it needs to screw on like the stock shroud.
Why, You over tighten the screws and the barrel POI changes, bump the shroud and the set screws take the bump, barrel moves,
:2cents: :2cents:
I think they have a very good set up and are on to something with the bigger not longer shroud,, But it needs to screw on…
Mike

I will just end up calling Peter Monday and see how the shroud fits.
I might post back with the information,
He makes some good stuff for the Crickets , His adjustable butt plate that is a must have on any Cricket.

My post is gone, I said that clown was killing me, Tree need to grow faster.
Reading glasses Zonk, That’s what I need.
I like super glue, Its the best, Its Super, :smilen:
I think FX is making a blue shroud super glue,
I could be wrong,

quote iride:

The top gun shroud, Does it screw on like the stock Cricket shroud, I read the whole thing a couple of times,
I can not figure out if it has attachment screws to the barrel or it screws on like the stock Cricket?
Anyone got one? Anyone read better than me?
Mike
