anomad’s condor adventure
Over the Thanksgiving weekend I succumbed to the shopping madness and picked up a blemished .25 condor from the good people in Texas. I did some research and purchased the Talon Tunes quick change top hat and an assortment of pellets at the same time. I took the plunge into PCP about this time last year with the entry level Benjamin Discovery and thought it was a lot of fun.
I made it out to the shooting range today and sighted in. Been waiting all week for that. It was cold and windy so I didn’t shoot for small groups, just adjusted to get it close enough to plink at clay pigeons scattered out on the berms at different distances. Using the quick change top-hat with the lowest velocity insert I got in a lot of shooting going from 3000psi down to 2500psi (I didn’t count, probably 40 shots). I’m not looking for ultimate power, just a decent accurate shot string with enough power for invasive species control. Pumping back up to 3000psi isn’t too much of a chore. But, I’m sure a tank makes the pellets go away much faster!
The ergonomics and safety are kind of goofy as I have read in the reviews. I can easily shoot around both of them though, just different than a “regular gun”. I fitted it with a Hawke 3-12×44 vantage side focus scope and BKL high rings to see what all the hype is about. The scope seems to work just fine. The trigger is good, so the reviews hold true for me there also.
Overall, I think I am going to have a lot of fun with this airgun.

I have been very happy with both my Condors. A non SS version in 25 caliber and an SS in 177. I decided to make the 25 quiet and put Tony’s shroud on it. It comes out to the same length as the SS with the additional shroud. They are both very quiet at the muzzle. The brass hammer takes away some of the hammer noise, I have that on the 177.

I liked the 25 Condor so much I decided to build a quiet one. Picked up a refurbished .177 Condor SS and put the 9 inch moderator on it. I’m shooting 15 grain skenco newboy pellets at about 950. Shoots starlings like a laser. There is no muzzle noise, only the tink of the hammer and pellet impact. The only down side is that it’s very long! The brass slap mod hammer is in my near future for ultimate stealth.

I’m far from an expert since this is my first AirForce airgun. Are the numbers you’re referring to for your fill tank? Like a scuba tank?
The stock tank on my condor is 490 cubic centimeters. I’m using a Benjamin hand pump to fill my 25 caliber model. I get about 40 shots with the smallest (lowest velocity and most quiet) insert. With the middle insert I’m getting about 30 shots. Both going from 3000 psi to 2600 psi. It’s about 100 strokes to fill it back up. The hand pump is meeting my needs just fine for the amount of shooting I do.
I need to shoot groups at different pressures over a chronograph to find my sweet spot for accuracy and velocity.

Finally I found a thread what tells me increase in shot count on a condor ss with the one piece top hat!!!!
I was given a condor ss with pellets and a 90Cu air tank LOL I found out quickly I need a bigger tank but it will be a few months before I can purchase and the closest paintball shop is 45 minutes away and open only on Saturday this time of year So the one piece with insert maybe the ticket until I can get the 97cf tank….
I seriously thought about c02 but temps in the 50 would not be an answer… just how many shots could be expected to get from 2700 psi to whatever for consistent shots… that is help me practice my hold and hunt a little for squirrels and rabbits. I am being paranoid with my air supply or the lack of it for now lol I’m am being cheap on the air due to my lack of it LOL
please give me some advise and how many shots I coudld gain until I get my big tank and crank it up
btw if there is a thread i didn’t find that great infor…. please direct it to me….
i can settle with using 14.3 g with around 22-28 pfe out of a .22 until I can get the tank that is…
will this tophat be my ticket

Thanks for the ergonomics tips guys. I’ll consider the adapter and tank cover in the future if I feel like its holding my enjoyment back. For now pellets and air are all I need! Like I said, I can shoot around it pretty well. I’ve been having fun with a big steel target about 100 yards out the back door.

Congrats on the new shooter! The talon tunes tank cover really helps with the awkard tank. Gives you the rifle feel and helps get your alignment the same everytime.

My .177 Condor has developed a leak from the valve. Anyone have a fix for this? Its just been sitting mostly and all the air leaked out. Pumped it up to 1k today and found its leaking through the valve with the ol’ soap and water.
