Q:

New Member/pellet weight

Hello I’m Philip from Malta Europe. 1st time posting. I am getting the .22 Vulcan straight from the manufacturer as we do not have any dealers of this brand here. I have to pay the air freight and although it’s getting quite expensive I’m still looking forward for it. I’m a 12 guage hunter and had never owned or shot an airgun before. As I’m seeing Airguns do offer more humane kill and that’s my number 1 priority why I am getting this. Evgeny replied that tactical rifles will be available late January 2016 same price. But I prefer the bullpup version. Sniperqty made a video comparing 18 grains vs 16 grains. I believe he prefers the 18’s more which I trust him very much. But at the same time Sir Ville advocate that the Vulcan prefers 16 grains. What are you guys using ? Thank you for welcoming me 🙂

Strip down the lacquer on it and oil it instead. Soooo much better looking. Use the shade of oil you desire and you’ll have a very good looking stock.

Thank you Birdman , I paid for the gun but that’s Evgeny’s photo to show me the serial number of the gun for local police registration. I will upload more photos when I get my hand on it . I think it’s pretty light and plain texture. Wish it was dark brown like advertised.

Philbri , the way the light is hitting your stock really messes up the color of the stock . Really can not give a thumbs up on color .
The light does give the stock a haze effect . Picture as is from I to 10 and ten is the best I would have to give you a rating of 2 .

FROM : THE BIRDMAN

I’ve been shooting the jsb 18s this whole time with pretty solid results. Having read Sir Ville’s post that the gun was designed around the 15.9s. I just tried them and initial results are indeed promising. I’ll need more time at the fifty yard range, but they do seem slightly more accurate than the 18s at 35 yards. Another bonus is that they load a lot more smoothly.

I wish I’d done this experiment prior to ordering 5 tins of Air Arms 18s. Oh well. I suppose they won’t go to waste.

Can’t rate it other than it passes inspection considering the picture is a 2-3 cuz it looks blurry to me.

Be honest please ! 🙂 What you guys think of my stock wood beauty from 1 to 10 ?

Leads head size is the best !
You need to test what size your barrel likes. Mine likes the 5.52’s.

PS : Zonk ! Is the day for your sex change operation still secret or can you PM me the date ? I’d like to send some Chocolates and maybe a Balloon or two to show that i care and support your decision, no matter how perverted .

philbri, as you ‘ll find out here on TAG Ville likes ALL HEAD sizes……even though he’ll say he really loves Leads Head size…..

Thank you . Air Arms offer different head sizes too . Which one do you use sir ville ? 5.51 ?

Try them both as stated but , and it´s a big BUT , the Vulcan is originally designed around the 16 grainers – which Evgeny can verify if you ask. The 16 gr pellets fly at + – 285 mps with the orig factory settings whereas the 18 gr counterpart fly at around 270 mps. I haven´t seen any evidence that a 18 gr pellet at that slower speed copes the wind any better than a 16 gr when spit out faster. That would be true IF both pellets had the same muzzle velocity but in the OEM settings that´s not the case.
The 16 gr pellet has a straighter trajectory too ( again : when it has higher muzzle velocity ) so i stick with the AA 16 gr. Period ! 😉

I’ve shot both 16 and 18 gr pellets through my Vulcan. Both seem to shoot very well, but I like sticking with the 18 gr as I feel it’s a better pellet for bucking the wind. Like Jan said, get a tin of each and give them a try.

Mr. Philbri :tag:

So is necessary to check what your barrel prefer. It´s not common information for each vulcan/cricket. For some barrels should be better 16grain and for some 18grain. Also it depend on brand of pellets. Mr. Ville prefer 16gr. AirArms pellets so we can believe him .
There is no exclusion your barrel will prefer 18gr. pellets. I suggest you try both and try what velocity is the best for your barrel too.
