Condor SS Grouping
Hello Everyone
I’m new here and recently got a Condor SS from TT. I had Tony tune it before it was shipped so I had high hopes it would great shooter. When I first started shooting it. The groups were good but not what I expected. My Home range is 20 yards and on it I was getting 2 shots touching and then #3 would pull outside the first 2. The groups were around .25″, center-to-center. well not bad, I had hoped for 1 hole at that distance. I see you guys are doing some one hole groups at 40 yards and plus so I was a little bummed. I blamed the inadequate grouping on me and figure I need to learn how to shoot this new rifle. I have been getting hits on various birds almost 100% of the time at 50 yards and under and some hits out to 65 yards fairly consistently. So I knew the rifle could shoot and continued to blame me.
One thing I did notice was at the 6o+ yard mark I was wanting more power from the rifle. I tried a couple of shots with the bigger top hat insert but the sound was to loud for my back yard shooting so I called Tony and talked with him and I ended up with a new Gen 6 Shroud being sent to me.
When it got here I was already shooting the Condor SS with the large Top Hat insert (but to loud) and I placed the new shroud on the end to see if my zero changed. I noticed 2 things. one, The Zero did not change and Two, the sound was not back to just the hammer strike. (I do have the hammer mod)
So with that, I went and pulled in largest insert out and ran the top hat open. First shot ,,,,,,Still Quiet!! and point of impact changed a bit but just a little. Ok I thought lets do another. Second shoot, Touching the first not the same hole but very close. Ok lets do another. Third shot, all three touching and the best group I have shoot with the rifle. Nice and round and all touching. I did notice that it was using more air… So I pumped it back up to 3K and grabbed some Poly Mags. The first group was with JSB Exact Kings.
The Second group, first shot …A nice clean hole in the paper (gotta love the poly mag for that). Second shot, Same hole….NICE…. Now the pressure started. Third Shot …. Same Hole!!! OMG … That’s what I wanted this Rifle to shoot like. 😀
Its absolutely pouring here today and i’m not walking to the target to posted pics. But I will…
So my question to you AF guru’s… Is this common.. does it like to be pushed fast??
Thanks in advance
Jim

Thank You Lurker. My hold on the Gun has been evolving to say the least. I know from shooting my other guns that some like to be held and others don’t. This last groups have been with very little pressure on the gun, since there is almost no recoil this is easy. About the only pressure is some light rearward pressure into my shoulder. Just barely touching the tank with my cheek, just enough to get a consistent sight picture. As soon as the weather lets up some I will post some pics and try some more pellets… So far tho ,,,I’m digging the new Gun… Kudos to Tony and his work.
