Q:

Crazy groups and a new LDC ?

I bought an adapter for my Cricket 22 and LDC from Top gun, With the LDC installed I am shooting all over the place, With the LDC off I am getting nice groups?
I looked down the LDC , (yes with it off the gun) I do not see any signs of clipping , Any suggestions ,
I am not really sure what I can try but , Something’s not right.
I guess I need to try the LDC from my 25 and see what happens, It could just be a bad LDC ???

OK update on LCD drilled size 56 drill bit in rear of LCD, six holes , drilled size 50 at front, four holes ,
I am still getting a large group at 38 yards , Three inch group, Took the LCD off , Looking at the ,PVC LCD also the one on my 25 Cricket, I think the exist hole is to small, Looking through all my drill bits I find one that just is a little to big to fit in the 22 cal PVC exist hole, No size on it so not sure, I drilled the small hole out on the LCD , did not smooth the hole out at all but I did blow in out with my compressor air to get all the shavings out,,,
Its still nice and quite, and ready to shoot fly’s off the paper at 38 yards, I rechecked at 49 yards and still dead on,
I slipped the PVC (condom) LCD over the new LCD just for grins and giggles and it was super quite, But way to long for me,
If anyone really wants to see pictures of all my fuck ups,,, oops mean genus’s works, Just ask and I will see if I can get some up..

I drilled some foreword and some rear holes in the LDC, Did not get a chance to test it,
It went from calm 70 degrees to 40 mph winds and 25 degrees in matter of a few hours,,,
Crazy weather. snow, sleet, and rain at the same time, Only in Texas,
I did reinstall the PVC condom and got a few shots off, shooting like a 22 Cricket, Dead center at 38 yards.
I guess I need to take pictures as they clear things up a little,

Thanks GKU
Its pretty small around four inches and seven inches long.
On the end it says designed for air guns energy to 16 J Not sure how to covert that to FPS energy,
I know my 22 Cricket is shooting at about 940 FPS ,
I think I am going to guess at it and say to much back pressure,

This is the test I use when designing LDC.
The pellet doesn’t need to actually make physical contact with the internals.
If it’s very close to one side compared to the other it can send the pellet of it’s coarse.

Added note after taping I place the muzzle directly against my corrugated cardboard rubber mulch pellet trap and fire, it makes of a cleaner hole.
If when you try it again and the hole is at a slightly different place I would suspect it’s clipping on the inside baffle.
It doesn’t need to be exactly on center but the closer the better, but if it’s very close to one side I would suspect that it’s a problem.

If you can remove the Shroud with the added LDC on it and roll it on a flat table to see if it wobbles would indicate poor alignment.

If not it could be that theirs to much pressure building up inside of the LDC/shroud and not enough is held back before the pellet leaves the muzzle.
In this case back porting the shroud may help.

~ Hope that helps yah Mike ~ Greg
