R3M needs a bit of work
Here’s the situation. Ran a spread sheet and after a relative flat 60-shot string I kept shooting. To my surprise the fps climbed from about 850 fps to 979 fps after 90 total shots. I think my gun has a bent valve stem. So now the fun of ownership starts. Can someone please advise me on where to purchase a degassing tool, and maybe an up-rated valve stem kit? BTW, I ran a test this morning starting at 165b and shot the pressure down to 130 bar. This was about 40 shots, but I had 5 chrony errors. The starting fps was averaging 805 fps, but by the time of the 40th shot I saw 888 fps. . I suppose I could order an OEM stem, butI don’t know if those have been up-rated or not. So, need a little help.

hey Dman, a good fuxing beats a bad fuxing any time! 
(but yes, props to the WIngMan!) Incidentally, the Eddy sits at 935 fps with AA 18 grain pellets. It’s be a while before I can get to a range to test accuracy at a respectable distance, though. The HST adjustment is really fine, and a little seems to change fps more than I’d suspected it might.

But if you only need that much power at 830fps, leave it as is. Nthing wrong with your gun. If you want flat out 830ish though out, adjust your reg to 90b.
My 22 is set to 90b and from 200b to 80b, i get 120 shots w/18.1g at 830ish fps.

Your reg is fine dont touch it.
It is factory set at 130 bar to shoot the 18gr JSBs at 930fps.
Your gun has just run in and needs a little more HST to bring the velocity backup to 900-920fps. you should get about 70 shots from 220bar to 120 bar at this factory setting and it will be more consistent and efficient too. If you want to shoot at 800-850 fps then you will need to turn the reg pressure down a touch or you will see a rise in the velocity at the end of the string and bad consistency like you are seeing now.
Personally my reg is set to 125 bar and shoots 908-915fps for 70 shots set just off the max HST .
Your hst is set too low for reg setting at 130b. Fill it to 200b and adjust hst until your speed is around 900fps. Then you wil have a flatter curve.

SW thanks for the link. I’ll get to that like soon. Larry and Shooter thanks for the input. I’ll leave it alone. At least now I can sell it with peace of mind. I feel much better. Where it falls off the reg is where it falls off. OK. This is only the second regulated gun I’ve owned so I’m still learning. Taking it apart is something I’ll set aside for another day.

Man, everything is OK with your gun. If you have .22 STD you can expect about 60 shots from it.
Darryl, that is an impressive shot string, most owners would be very satisfied with your results!!! It appears you come off the regulator at around 62 shots.
Ed states in his video you can expect 60 shots 200-210 bar. Leave it alone.

OK here’s my test sheet. Did the gun fall off the regulator after the 60th shot? I guess I’m still learning about this gun. Is the 60-shot count a good one for this gun? Is rising fps a typical sign of the gun going of the reg? Somebody look it over and tel lme I’m not cra-cra! 😕
Follow Ed’s U Tube video Everything you ever wanted to know about the Matador. I think some quality hex wrenches would help along with some anti seize compound. Sometimes certain air guns just don’t work for your circumstance. Sorry you didn’t get it sold.

Is rising fps a sign of being off the regulator? Certainly 60 shots before Armageddon is decent for this model. Right? Also, I’m not sorry the rifle hasn’t sold. I need to be certain there’s not an issue with the gun. I don’t sell problems. On that note, and with your input in mind, I’ll run another test and see if I can get 60 shots before the bottom drops out. 60 shots is reasonable. right? :smilen:

Darryl, you certainly seem to have a lot of issues. My regulator is set at 130 bar, when your pressure gauge gets near 130b you may be off the regulator and see a rise in fps. Small gauges are not the most reliable but Ed’s use a bourdon tube, which is much more reliable than the coil spring version. Your chronograph may be an issue as well. I would open it up and clean the regulator, change o rings and lightly lube.

Guys, a couple of days ago I received a reply back from Ed via Mr. Rudenko concerning my query about a possible bent valve stem, as I’d asked about earlier here in this thread. Ed’s advice was to increase the pellet speed. It’s the same excellent advice I received from you guys here on the Talon Forums. I just thought I’d pass that along. Meanwhile I did make an adjustment to the HST. The gun is now shooting 18.1’s at 930 fps. I now have to get my tank refilled as it was the last gasp of operating pressure to get the Eddy up to 210 bar, and test and retest the HST setting until I had a small shot string at the desired speed.
