The Russian guys were making this kind of minimalist design way before the vl-12 was out.
But the vl-12 seams too have been taken too the next level, with the minimalist design.
You can find lots of pix, of this kind of design.

well i called peter today, he said that Kalibrgun has bought out the company who makes the vl-12 puppy.
so thats why we see their name on it, so peter says the vl-12 will be here by the end of the year. 😯
good news i’m going too get the shorty, with the stock on it, like in the above pix. 
I see your point; location probably does impact the decision for a lot of folks. Makes it even more irritating that the industry as a whole seems to be taking advantage of that.
BTW, my Ruger with subsonic ammo and the Kidd bolt buffer has about the same sound signature as my highly modded .22 Marauder. With both the loudest sound by far is the pellet/bullet striking the target. 🙂
You make very valid points, however not everyone has the ability to get real guns. Where I live it is virtually impossible so I would have to move down south first, then get an expensive and approved weapons cabinet, then a licence for the gun, then the gun itself. With an airgun I just need to get the airgun and that is it. And I can shoot it in my backyard too

To sell a gun that costs less than $600 for $1400 sounds like usury. For you guys who are knowledgeable in such things, what is the justification (other than greed)? Is it time we start protesting with our pocketbooks and stop buying until the prices are made more reasonable? Once again I would note that my .22 Ruger 10/22 with Volquartsen target trigger, Gemtech Mist 22 integrally suppressed barrel and stunningly beautiful thumbhole stock cost, including the $200 transfer stamp, less than a baseline Cricket, and I just bought a lot of .22 LR for only 6 cents a round (about the average cost of .25 pellets and considerably cheaper than the 11 cents per pellet for .30 cal). The Ruger weighs just a bit more than 6 lbs with a Hawke 4-12 Vantage and produces 95-110 ft lb of energy. I become more and more disillusioned with the airgun industry.

I really do not think this gun is a semiautomatic. I have watched probably 20 hours of VL-12 videos and I have not seen it perform once in semiautomatic mode. I have seen shooters manually operate the bolt. I don’t speak Russian so I don’t know for sure but if it was semiautomatic I believe I would have seen the gun cycle in semiautomatic mode on video.
I like the shorty the best , and at 20 inches that is the smallest Bullpup PCP on the market that I have heard of so far . If it
is a true semi-auto that would make me to want it even more . However , I’m not jumping on the band wagon heads over
heels until more info is known about this little gun , alot of people made that mistake with the Humming Bird . As for now
all I can really say is from what I have seen , I really like it and until I know more I’ll wait and see what other new shorties
may also be available for 2016 .

I like it the way it is. That little gun is uber cool!
Not sure on the shots, I still want a short forward side cocking bullpup.
Even lets say it gets, 20-25 shots, that still will work for me. Thats not a deal breaker for me.
I would made my own custom wood stock 4 it.
I noticed the bullpup trend of many manufacturer is going towards the minimalist design (AR style pistol grip and shoulder pad). I personally think this platform would benefit greatly with a nice wood or synthetic stock. Something with a fore-grip as well. I do like the once piece machined breech block. Very clean lines as a result. I just wish the magazine design was better with it being countersunk once inserted. The airtube is also skinny as hell. I wonder how many shots you get with the short? Is it me or does anyone think the rail is a tad long on the rear? They should trim one section off. It’s right below the guy’s eye in the video.
