EDgun R3 .30 caliber FIXED!!!!
I am starting a new thread so this information doesn’t get lost in the body of the other 5 page thread..
So as you know the new hammer was smashing the valve stem making it non-operational after anywhere from 100-1000 rounds My goal was to get a larger stem made in order to handle the larger hammer. John Hagan contacted me and he was willing to take on the project of making a new valve. I have been in contact with, John Hagan, Ernest Rowe and Eduard Gafarov (EDgun owner) for technical help. ( I don’t have to be smart, I just have to know the right people to contact) I had the new valve made and I couldn’t get the speed required until I fell off the regulator. My regulator was originally set from the factory at 161 bar. That was lowered to 150 bar. At the 150 bar setting I was getting an inconsistent shot string and I was having to over tension the HST.
I lowered the bar to 130 and I got a very consistent string with moderate HST tension but I could only obtain 840 FPS for 24 shots but I has an ES of 5FPS. This told me that the valve could be consistent. I contacted Ed and he suggested that I trim the top of the valve body.
This is the original 2mm valve stem (14.432 grams)

This is the new 3mm valve (15.95 grams)

With some grinding and sanding I was able to get the new valve close to the OEM weight

I got 20 shots with an ES of 9 fps

The next step is to test durability…
Eduard is going to fix your gun. He has made arrangements and I’ll let him announce how he is going to handle it. I know he has already made contact with someone and I’m sure he will announce how to fix your gun soon. Thanks Ed
