POI rising. what should I do?
Hey guys,
So I am shooting my Talon ss from a 2900 psi fill at power wheel 8.0. And after 15 shots my poi starts rising. I understand my velocity is increasing. So I lower power wheel to 7-8 and I am on target again for 15 shots give or take and then it starts rising. I don’t know what combination of things to do to increase my consistency so I can get maybe 40 consistent shots?
I like to sit around 18-20 fpe with jsb 18 grain. Mainly plink and bag doves whenever I see one.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

working great. Still running the talonSS valve and TH. Got the TTCF tank coming tomorrow so I think I will put the high flow valve and condor TH in it. Then order the condor modded hammer and qcth.. I was wondering since I have the modded talon hammer can u run that with the weight that came with the stock hammer?
My talon is setup with a .035 washer under the tophat with a 2000 psi jds reg, ttqc tophat wide open. Sitting right at 30 fpe with 18 gr jsb.
Yours should be there by now how is it working out for you?
What did u end up with as far as setting of power wheel and thickness of spacer? My talonSS will be here thursday.
Thanks
Nice shooter! I have a wok gard on my condor and love it. And you cant go wrong with a hawke scope. I went with a aeon 6-24 over a hawke 4-16 and wish i would have gotten the hawke. I have 3 of them and love them.
Here is a pic of my talon ss. I call her “The Messenger.”
TT Talon hammer with slap mod. SS screw on power wheel, foregrip removed and picatinny rail installed in its place.
Hawke 2×7 AO 32 mm sitting on tri rail , medium rings, to keep things light. I also have a sidewinder tac 30 but I use it sparingly, mainly due to weight. Wokgard with a magpul grip. Utg recon 360 bipod.
I sure did write everything down. I don’t think I would have the patience to figure it out a 2nd time lol. Lots of lead down range to get this far. I’m getting those 50 shots with only 500 psi used. 2500-2000. Can’t beat it. I pump my gun, and I can fill 500 psi within a few minutes.
Once again thanks for the help. Next I’m going to post up some hunting pics.
Dude that is a nice shot string! Glad I could help out. always cool to see things working smoothly. Congrats on getting it all fixed up. Hopefully you took notes for next time. I write almost everything down so when I am tinkering and I goof something up or forgot if I tried something I go to my shooting log and dig through it.
Have fun with that sweet little shooter and post up some pics!
So i ordered an assortment of fiber and nylon washers from amazon. I have the tophat screwed out, did not measure it, but screwed it out enough to make the breech close snug over the top hat. I tried a fiber washer and a small rubber grommet that I filed down. ( did not measure how thick the grommet is or how thick the fiber was. I put the fiber washer first and then the rubber grommet behind the top hat. Both shot strings shown are using 18 grain jsbs.

I wanted to have a bit more FPS so I filed down the fiber washer to about half the thickness of what it was originally. After a lot of fiddling with the power wheel and fill pressures this was my final shot string and my favorite.

50 shots is plenty for what I do. Thanks for the help onebaddj!
I have the tt qc top hats in all my tanks. The power tank is set up wide open. Before I put the reg on my other tank I had the small and medium inserts in and change out the washers with both. I have all the number written down in my shooting log plus it is on here in different threads. For a low power set up I would start with a .035 washer to see what happens. I did not run this on a stock top hat, mine cracked so I replaced it along time ago before I really started tearing into my condor and tweeking everything.
Will dig around to see if I can find a link on amazon or something. The washers I use came in sheets of 50 I think. Just pop one off and tailor it to your needs.
Having all your extra money tied up in property is better than bb guns! These things are a ton of fun but your cant sleep in it.

Man amazon has tons of stuff. The diameter of a condor tophat stem is 1/4 in, not sure the outside diameter of the tophat I just sand it till it fits. Measure your stem and top hat then order the right size. Thickness does not really matter when you order, its going to change when you start sanding anyway.
Talon tunes also sells washers.
Wish I had the coin! All my finances are tied up in my property. built a cabin on 3 acres and trying to develop another portion for a house.
I like the idea of the idea of the nylon washers, I went to Home Depot and lowes and could not find nylon washers. Couldn’t find the right aisle. And the young guy working there pointed me to the appliance section. -.- didn’t bother correcting him. I have tried o rings but they did not fit tight around the stem. I will give it another go to see if I can find the nylon washers. That seems like my best bet.
Do you turn the tophat out so that it is tight against the breech and use the washers to tune fps? or is the top hat set for a higher fps without washer and you use the washers to lower fps and get more consistency.
Thought about buying a hiflo tank and qcth but I would just insert the small insert anyways. Might as well try to get the standard flo to work for me. All in all I love my rifle and have taken many critters.
Appreciate the response!
Try a .035 nylon washer under the top hat. Poor mans reg basically. Se what velocity that gets you then sand it thinner for more velocity, or make another for less velocity. This will smooth out your shot strings and make them more consistant. I use nylon washer I have left over from a aluminium shed I put together years ago. I use a drill bit to make the center hole 1/4 inch then sand the edges down so it is the same diameter as the tophat then sand to thickness. I have them from .015-.050 in about .005 increments to see what each gets me.
If you have the coin to drop on a reg set up then I recommend a JDS reg and TTCF bottle. That’s what I have setup and waiting on my Talon to get here. I ran that setup on my condor and it is getting very consistant shot stings. 11 fps es for 40 shots at 36 fpe. WIll se what I get on the talon with 18 inch barrel. Also the cf tank and reg is only 1 inch longer than the stock tank setup.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Not sure. Would have to weigh everything then see how they run. Only one way to find out. If you got the parts run then.
