Q:

Hi-tek bullet coating

I have been trying the hi-tek bullet coating and have got the hang of applying it.The hi-tek coating goes on with a lot less fuss than the powder coating. This is a .257 bullet for my condor.I can’t wait to see about the accuracy at a distance.

You don’t size them till after they are coated. It seals the pores in the lead if you size them first and the coating doesn’t adhere as good.

The hi-tech coating is a powder coat that is applied wet combined with acetone and dried in a convection oven at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. It is easier to use than powder coating and makes a more uniform coating than the powder coat.In airguns it mostly just keeps the barrel from leading.I saw a youTube vid of a guy shooting a coated bullet from a powder burner pistol and it was 30-50fps quicker coated than the lead slug.

Whats the advantage of this? I do seem to recall hearing something about powdercoating…. I assume the coating is done after sizing…. Do you undersize to accomodate for the coating?
Just curious in knowing how this works…
