Q:

Airforce Condor SS – velocity and loudness goes up as pressure goes down.

Hi,

I have a new .22 Airforce Condor ss

I’m a little puzzled…as I shoot the gun, and as the pressure goes down, the pellet velocity goes up, the power/energy goes up and the loudness goes up. It’s the same for all power wheel settings…as pressure goes down, the velocity and loudness go up. The gun gets very loud when the psi goes down to 2400psi and lower. Here are some recorded numbers.

pw (power wheel) = 3,
jsb 18.13gr
2850psi (condor ss gauge) = 3000psi (hill pump)
(psi listed below are read from the condor ss pressure gauge.)

1st 10 shots, ave vel = 851, psi…2850 down to 2775
2nd 10 shots, ave vel = 909, psi…2775 down to 2650
3rd 10 shots, ave vel = 998, psi…2650 down to 2510
4th 10 shots, ave vel = 1053, psi…2510 down to 2210

The last 5 shots of fourth shot string (starting at around 2400psi down to 2210psi) were the most powerful and the loudest of the 40 total shots taken.

The results are the opposite of what I expected. I expected the velocity and sound level to decrease as the pressure went down from 3000psi to 2000psi.

Are these results normal? Shouldn’t the velocity go down as the pressure goes down from 3000psi to 2000psi?

Thank you,
Doug

How long is the barrel on a stock condor 22?

And yes you can run the shroud on the end of the ss. Just looked and they are $195 right now! That is a steal.

I was looking into a condor ss fram so I could use a 28 inch barrel with the 14 in shroud. That would give me serious power in a super quiet package. Stepped up the PSI to 3600 and got the power I was looking for without out having to order a custom barrel.

If the stock condor ss has an 18 inch barrel you may be able to pull off getting a longer r&l shroud and adding extra cups to it. I did this on my talon and it worked very well. I have 8 cups total in it.

If its in your budget Id go with the Talon Tunes shroud in a heart beat. They are awesome. Not to say the others are bad, just not in the same league.

A shroud in addition to the new baffle system the condor ss comes with?
Doug

You need a shroud. Talon Tunes has shrouds.

Is there any way to quiet the gun down? If I start at 2300psi and the power wheel is set to 3, the condor has a lot of power but it’s also very loud. Is there any way to have all this power and have it kind of quiet too?
Thanks,
Doug

It’s because your not opening the valve all the way until 2300 psi or so.

If you filled the gun to 2300 it would start right there. Turn up the PW and it will raise the start fps. Or lower your fill pressure.
