Q:

HAWKE OPTICS AIRMAX 6-24X50

Anyone have any experience with this scope? I love the AMX reticle. The UTG Compact I have on my Vulcan just isn’t cutting it.

I say, i would go with “mdknapp” for athlon, but Argos BTR 6-24×50, APMR first focal plane illuminated MIL reticle, this one has better tree reticle shape,, but i would like to see a review on this scope,,,so,mdknapp,,plz post a review on yours ,,

So, like fe7565, my Athlon Argos BTR-6-24×50 MIL is on backorder… however I do have the Athlon Talos BTR 4-14 MIL FFP which I can directly speak to. I am relatively a novice in Airguns & Scopes so I will do my best to review.

I really like the Athlon Talos. It feels like a night a day step up over myCenterPoint4-16×56 AO Rifle Scope w/Mil-Dot Reticle. The glass is far clearer, the rectical layout is a huge improvement and I find it very easy to use. The illuminated rectical is clear and bright but as others have noted it is not completely “daylight” bright on a bright day. I think the turrets are good but I do see what others mean when they say they have a little mush to them.

Some excellent reviews of by folks with the Athlon FFP scopes (4-14 or 6-24) who are definitely more experienced and knowledgable than I am:

I would be happy to post any pics of the Talos 4-14 on my vulcan once I figure out how to get around the board’s photo limitations.

Hopefully this helps!

I would like to stay in the $400-500 price range first things first. For the most part I shoot target in my backyard @30yds. I go to my range and shoot 50-100 on occasion though, hence the need for 24x.

The Athlon Optics ARGOS BTR 6-24X50 FFP is $449 MSRP and can be found for $369 from many retailers (optics planet, etc).

For an FFP scope I think it is an incredible value but I have heard a lot of good things about the Airmax too. Before I settled on the Athlon, I was about to pick one of them up. 🙂

Hawke is the go-to because of marketing and youtube. I myself had bad luck with my 2 sidewinders and will think twice before buying a china scope again, luckily Hawke has warranty…

I have an Athlon on order (10days to 7 weeks wait), but they are still very new and not many reviews…so there are some risks. Often they have 10% coupons (or even 12% for newcomers) on Opticsplanet, etc. I wanted a FFP scope and I am willing to take a chance, especially with the life time warranty.

Very serious option especially with the reticle choices. How stiff is the paralax and magnification adjustment?

The Hawke web link in the OP first post says the Airmax scope weighs 26.7 ounces.

Thank you, corrected.

Depending what your needs are the Athlon Optics 6-24×50 is a nice First Focal Plane (FFP), side focus scope with, IMHO, a good recticle that comes in Moa and Mil with a lifetime warranty. It is slightly heavier at 29.6oz. The price is in the same range as the sidewinder.

Hawke seems to be the go-to. Anyone have experience with the Aeon 6-24×50 AO Classic Rifle Scope, , 1/4 MOA? I hear they are a great value.

that edgun seems like a fixed version of my tacvector with different turrets.

fixed mag is always lighter. but who wants those?

MTC connect ? it is a short eye relief scope, some people rave about it

you can easily flip around the Vulcans scope rail mount so it looks better than he has on the picture.

Hear great things about the MTC, but I hate the mounting system. Having both rings upfront just looks strange.

If you can get Edgun Scopes. ..you will not regret. ..very light and compact. .in deed…and they are Mil/Mil ….

The only thing that i don’t like…the turrets are not lockable. ..but very easy you can memories it…
