be careful what you ask a Machinist…. LOL

Apparently you are not suppose to ask a Machinist if 1/2″-20 thread is UNF or UNC?

To this average joe with machinery threading knowledge I did not know which thread type had Fine threading or Coarse or even if interchangeable with different thread pitches. ❓ 😳 😕 sorry for my ignorance 😆

When asking this question to whom I believe is a respected machinist with a particular item he builds for PCP’s he seemed to get grumpy with me asking this question. The only response he would give me is “I told you its 1/2″-20”. (I should clarify I first asked what threading he used than had follow up questions with if FINE or COARSE threading etc…)

In the end I figured out (well was 80% sure it was fine threading) and then was told by a third party that 1/2″-20 threading is UNF but, really how hard is it to say that. At one point I thought I was trying to get some top secret information on his design or something. :rofl:

I just thought the whole thing was pretty comical. 😀
